The Augusta Chronicle
At this point, a PR campaign from BP is completely pointless.
We know the oil spill is still there, we know that wildlife is still suffering, and we know that BP regrets the situation. We don't need anyone to present this information in a positive way, and we especially don't need anyone to hide the truth of injured wildlife images on the Gulf shore. We're not blind.

I have heard suggestions ranging from putting a containment box over the well, using hair to soak up the spill and the much more clever suggestion of using dolphins to stuff the hole with cigarette butts.
Perhaps this is a big HINT to find alternative sources of fuel.
If the government officials were in place to insure BP did what it was supposed to do we would not have this catastrophe.
Just a few months ago OBAMA gave B.P. a prestigious award for good safe operations of this rig.
Just by chance B.P. gave Obama, and the other Democrats running for office, more campaign money than anyone, with Obama receiving the Lions share. This may be the reason his response was lame as it was. The fact of the wavers B.P. received by Obama, on safety inspections, have yet to be investigated. He basically put safety in their hands and not much oversight. The Gov. was on the job, they just blew it. And I am going to HAVE to depend on them to manage my Health Care---Lord give me some relief. Three days into this catastrophe, and the Dutch Gov. offered Obama enough skimmers to keep the oil from reaching the shore, but he turned them down. Thirteen countries offered help with manpower materials and large ships to suck up oil to keep it off the shores---He said no. His reason was he could not waver the Jones Act passed in 1920. A union protection law. Look it up. Other Presidents have waved it in the past to take all the help they needed, but not Obama. He had to pay off the Unions for their support in his bid for office. Now he is using this mess to enhance his agenda on another tax and expansion of gov.----Hello Cap and Trade. If we do not threaten our representatives with putting them in the street, unemployed, we may be looking at all utilities being 25% more than you pay now. Plus a lot more.
I hope we can get by this never ending parade of stupidity, that seems to have overtaken what seems to be a growing number of marchers
we depend on 44% of all the oil we use from the gulf. If this President keeps his executive order for the full 6 mo. against any drilling anywhere --even off the coast of Alaska, where there have been no accidents, It will not be long we are looking at $5.00 to $7.00 a gallon of gas. I guess some of you would like for everyone to buy a horse and learn how to make candles again. If Obama holds to the 6mo. there will be at least 300,000 people on unemployment, welfare, food stamps and etc. Let alone the businesses that will be largely affected by this. Restaurants, groceries etc.
By no means am I giving B.P. a pass. They need to be held accountable, pay for the clean up and keep families together by salaries, but by no means are we going to make it if we do not stop this madness and drill in shallow water where we know there is a great amount of oil, and on land. If we had been in safer places this problem would be fix by now and the cause found.
We need to ask ourselves why are we having to doing this in this deep water? You will find scores of environmental groups at the bottom of this. No new nuclear plants, no new coal plants, no new refineries since the 70s. How many of this bunch have blown up and burned things to make their point and get their agenda heard. They get their support from politicians by threatening them with no support in campaigns, and unemployment. We need to try it.

Regardless, isn't obamma aware that BP (Brittish Petroleum) is NOT a USA company, and he doesn't have authority over their accounts, etc.? Obviously not.
Ho hum, it will work out. But don't try to tell the American people that we need to learn to do without gas and oil. Will never happen.
