There are some things I am pretty sure of after my nearly 56 years of journeying along life’s road.
Here are a few.
I wonder if you agree.
• The longer a man or woman is in Hollywood with any sort of success, the more likely he or she is to implode. That’s why so-called agents get so rich.
I agree that rich people implode. Greed, money becomes their god. Same thing with our economy and capitalist system. Camels don’t easily fit through eyes of a needle.
If there will always be winners and losers implies that losers are losers without choice, no matter how hard they try. Someone has to lose. Do we cast them aside? Or do we encourage them to continue to play?
Do not rewarding losers, but don’t ignore or punish them either. I find that it creates people who no longer wanting to play the game.
Hunger is also a great motivator for crime.
Self esteem is more of a motivator than hunger..and less cruel.
Sweating the small stuff puts important focus on things that do not matter. That is why it is called small stuff. I like the Serenity Prayer.
When I go to Burger King, I rarely get it my way.
Give them back California AND Texas.
Schools are more effective than people give them credit. They are more than just babysitters. They exist for a purpose and should live up to that purpose. This is also true for parents.
Many things taste like chicken.
A husband’s love for his wife and a wife’s love for her husband are important for family preservation..a good example is worth gold. Also, people cannot define what marriage is to other people if the heterosexual divorce rate is 50%.
A perspective is just a perspective. It is influenced partly by life experiences through observation and trial and error; therefore it is different for everyone. Be respectful.
Im pretty sure if Blake Hickman were walking from Griffin to Barnesville and I stopped to see if he needed a ride he would reply " no thanks, I'm in a hurry". He has more miles on his legs than all of Dixon cabs cars combined.
Im pretty sure Luther would make as good of a president as Obama. Both are equally qualified for the job.
How did he get that name, anyway??
As for him swinging his cane, if you didn't realize he was swinging his cane because he was sick and tired of people making fun of him by saying that phrase then that's also very sad.
That phrase was not a funny one to most, and certainly not to him. It had to do with a horrid rumor that got started about him long before many people in Barnesville were even born.
Even a blind hog will find an acorn every once and a while,,
Snow piles deep on the roof of a house with out love,,,
Variety is the spice of life,,,,
Some great insight from Thomas Jefferson;
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty".
One from Jefferson that Walter should appreciate;
"The advertisement is the most truthful part of a newspaper."
Some others I believe in;
Never go snipe hunting twice
A belt serves a greater purpose than holding Daddy's pants up
If you hear a Southerner exclaim, "Hey, y'all, watch this," stay out of the way. These are likely to be the last words he'll ever say.
Don't order steak at the Waffle House. They serve breakfast 24 hours a day, so let them cook something they know.
Never relieve yourself from a moving vehicle, especially when driving.
Don't pick a fight with an old man,,,he'll just shoot you.
I’m reminded of a TV commercial of long ago that pictured an Indian with a tear in his eye because of litter. I know somewhat how he felt now after seeing the new kind of litter trashing America.
Being proud to be an American seems as if it has almost gone. Liberalism is a disease destroying the ideals of morality of our youth while the people sleep.
God has been asked to leave our schools. Liberalism is a disease that thinks God has no place of influence over younger minds. Anarchy is justified.
Abraham Lincoln said the classroom of today in the future of America. Liberalism is a disease that removed morality from school, took the power from the educators, redefined history, and planted those seeds of anarchy.
God has been told that there is no place for Him in American government. Liberalism is a disease that has redefined the definition of separation of Church and State.
If an able bodied person will not work, that person should not eat. Liberalism is a disease that says if a person is lazy, take from those who will work and give to those who won’t.
If a night of lust and fornication results in the conception of a child, destroy the child. Liberalism is a disease that says murder of the unborn is just.
There is an unlimited supply of funds for government. Liberalism is a disease that operates under the philosophies that if funds are inadequate, institute a new tax or increase an old one.
A share of tax revenues already pays for a social program to assist those without the funds or insurance to obtain medical assistance. Additionally doctors will not turn individuals away who are in need of medical aid and nor will hospitals. Government continues to misuse taxpayer funds. Liberalism is a disease that assumes the way to a better America is through total and complete socialism.
Government believes that whatever is good enough for the common people should not apply to them. Politicians are the internal disease that must be removed to prevent a terminal illness that is trying to take hold of America now. Don’t give them time to become an inoperable.
If you are not prepared to fight for America, and die for America, you are not an American. America is what our forefathers gave us. America is not what politics are trying to do to it now.
Last Thought: Illegal aliens are not Americans. They entered the country illegally demonstrating no respect for our laws. They are criminals in hiding. Government doesn't want to enforce the laws of the land; laws that they pledged and oath to uphold. Politicians fear the loss of votes. We as Americans should justify their fears and send them to the unemployment lines for failure to uphold the laws that their election was part of.
I'm proud to be an American. I pledged an oath many times to protect her against all enemies foreign and domestic. That oath remains a part of me always. I love America. If you want to desecrate America, don’t do it in my presence or you will meet an American. That is what my 55 years has done to me. Damn! I’m a right wing extreamist.
Is America still exceptional?
Personally I don’t try and attach any type of political agenda to Jesus nor do I try and place Him with any political party. He is above all of that and we humans are the ones who are too ignorant to fully comprehend His message and apply it to our daily life. I assume that we do the best we can with what limit of mental capability we have.
Classical liberalism in the United States is the belief that a free market economy is the most productive. It may be represented by the statement "that government is best which governs least." Classical liberalism is a philosophy of individualism and self-responsibility. Classical liberals in the United States believe that if the economy is left to the natural forces of supply and demand, free of government intervention, the result is the most abundant satisfaction of human wants. Modern classical liberals oppose the concepts of social democracy and the welfare state. (Wikipedia)
Modern American liberalism is a form of social liberalism developed from progressive ideals. It combines social liberalism and social progressivism with support for a welfare state and a mixed economy. American liberal causes include abortion rights for women, and government entitlements such as education and health care. These policy stances adhere to the central premise that individual freedom can only exist when it is protected by a strong, democratically elected government that has an active role in society and the economy. (Wikipedia)
I see our direction of liberalism pointing toward Elitism which is an egotistical group of people who make the combined effort to convince the common people that they are the only ones with the intellect, wealth, specialized training, experience, skills, abilities or wisdom making them and only them fit to govern over the people.
These elitist are secretly ushering in Collectivism (Socialism, Communism, and Fascism) under the veil of democracy and freedom. Our collectivism is coming to us in the form of social democracy which reduces unrestrained capitalism by government regulation, redistribution of income, and varying degrees of planning and public ownership.
Collectivism stifles individuality and diversity by insisting upon a common social identity and is linked to the diminution of freedom when political authority is used to advance collectivist goals. Collectivism results in social disintegration and war while promising eternal peace. As soon as a faction has succeeded in winning the support of the majority of citizens and attained control of the government, it is free to deny to the minority all the democratic rights it previously carried on its struggle for supremacy.
Liberalism is how you define it. I define the liberal approach taking place as the wrong road. Therefore, you are correct. I wouldn’t know a liberal if it were hung on a cross. However, I do oppose the efforts to bring down America by what I consider the hoodwinked public and the liberal/progressive movement taking place by self-appointed elitist such as Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.
Personally I don’t try and attach any type of political agenda to Jesus nor do I try and place Him with any political party. He is above all of that and we humans are the ones who are too ignorant to fully comprehend His message and apply it to our daily life. Gary,
Being a Christian by its very definition, one would do their very best to emulate all that Christ embodied when he was here in the flesh. If I know anything about Christ, I know that in his day he would not have been a harden capitalist, but completely other than. Christ was a rebel rouser and called the Church and the government on their extreme materialistic ways.
Gary, I know you enough to know what is in your heart. I also served with you when in the Military. If you let down your guard and took the time to get to know some “Liberals” you will find they do want the same things as you. The only difference is, they what it for everybody and not just those with the mental, social and economic capacity as you.
I’m a hard core conservative. I believe in small government, less taxes, free enterprise, the Constitution of the United States, and Freedom. I believe that our founding fathers developed our United States under Judeo-Christian principals putting God above everything while giving the people a government with the freedom to worship as they pleased without fear of any kind of government retribution. I believe that Jesus died for our sins and the only way to eternity with God is through Him. I believe that we are “One Nation under God” and “In God We Trust”. I believe the Ten Commandments should be proudly displayed in our schools and government offices, and especially our court houses because those Ten Commandments are the foundation to every law. I believe in prayer in our schools for it was Abraham Lincoln that said, “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” Our government is now full of corruption and absolute power seekers. I believe that education without God is to blame. It was George Washington who said, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible”, yet I see liberal progressives making efforts to deceive the populace and take His place under the guise of political correctness.
Modern day liberalism is in my opinion evil at the door. We have to choose to fight it and keep it out or embrace it and let it in. I’m not saying I am always right but I do have my principals. Until I’m shown that those principals are wrong and unfounded, I’ll choose to continue to stand on them and fight anyone who tries to forcefully push me off of them. I believe in America. I do not believe in the (in my opinion) American Socialist movement toward tyranny.
We are over due to get together and eat some BBQ. It’s been along time.
I will give you a call.
It is my personal belief there is no disconnect between science and religion. Where science is the study of the physical universe, religion is the study of the universe within. Scientist say there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on earth. If only a mere fraction of these stars have planets with life it means there is more life out there than one could possibly ever comprehend. I also believe the universe within is every bit as vast as the physical realm. When considering the infinite magnitude of the universe within it would be naïve to believe there is only one Devine spiritual possibility.
