One of the options on the table for correcting sight lines and other issues at the hazardous intersection of Hwy. 36 East and Morgan Dairy Road is a roundabout.
Roundabouts are suddenly a favorite with the insurance industry and, as a result, with Georgia’s Department of Transportation.

What a stupid idea for the middle of a state highway. As many years as i have been traveling HWY36 i havnt seen anything that would cause a wreck at this area they speak of. I do see a bunch of idiot driving and not paying attention and dont want to wait a few extra seconds for a vehicle to go by so they just are willing to pull out infront of traffic and try to "gun it". The intersection isnt the problem. Its the drivers.
They need to enforce new laws. IF you are at fault in a wreck you should have your license taken for 3 months. 2nd offense should be 6 months to a year. 3rd offense within a certain amount of time and you are done. Anyone and everyone should have to take a strict driving test every 5 years. People over the age of 55 should have to take them yearly or every other year.
Insurance rates should be as costly on old people as they are on 18 year olds. Just because they have been on earth longer dont mean they are better drivers. I drive for a living. Old people are a hazard on the roadways. I see more on a daily basis than most everyone reading this.
Besides, they were originally designed for folks that drive on the other side of the road.
yet another comment that should be ranked up there with one of the dumbest that I have heard...
Bad concept in these parts all around.
the Chinese invented the tooth brush...oh wait... we all have teeth...well, maybe most of us...
You are obviously not a traffic engineer. But please feel free to continue to make pointless rants about others logical comments.
Since stopping at a stop sign is becoming something nobody wants to do (...especially illegal aliens with no DL), 4 way stops and nonsense like this idea are gaining popularity.
DOT is supposed to be in the business of keeping traffic MOVING. They need to get back to that. Besides, traffic engineering 101; State highway traffic shall take precedence over local roadway traffic.
It could slow down some of the traffic going through the area and it would put the Liberty Hill community back on the map.
I agree that is a dangerous intersection and confusing for folks who are not familiar with how to turn onto Morgan Dairy Rd.
The propane tankers who take Morgan Dairy to Dixie Pipeline make the potential of a catastrophic accident at that intersection
a greater possibility. DOT needs to take the time to really figure this one out before moving forward.
I do agree with the others, these things are simply a way to "make everyone suffer equally", which is not popular.
And I see changes in the DOT in the not too distant future.
"The sheriff's department doesn't spend enough time on 36 because trucks are going 80mph"
Poor guys can never catch a break.
#17- You're an idiot. You can tell when someone is going too fast. You don't have to be keeping up with them to know they are going 80mph. However, I do agree that Lamar Co does have a great Sheriff's Dept. They can't make everybody happy all the time. No matter how well you do, somebody is always going to complain.
Research things sometime instead of assuming or repeating erronious information. You will be credible then.
I agree with the commenter who suggests big stop signs and rumble strips- and maybe a blinking red light.Lots cheaper.
If you really want to see the effectiveness and efficiency of big govt ( and only the state)go see this monster for yourself. While you're at it try outstanding fried chicken @ Mrs. Lockett's in downtown Culloden.
