A Northridge Road man was shaken but unharmed Wednesday night after he thwarted a home invasion attempt by two armed men.
Home invasion suspects (l-r) Charles Leroy Jeffries III, Christopher Ryan Fuller and Robbie Lamar Green.

Please do Lamar County a favor and step away from your computer. I'm against internet censorship, but for you I'd be in favor of selective internet service. It's apparent that you can not handle simple information processing and therefore should not be allowed to share your thoughts.
As a citizen, I am sick and tired of seeing the same names on the Sherrifs report and the BPD reports...how many times do these thugs have to be arrested befor our DA and Judge actually punish them?? They are let right back on the streets to commit more crimes. It is disturbing. I guess if I decide to leave the path of the straight and narrow, I will do it in this town. Slap on the wrist is all I would have to worry about. The deputies and cops are doing their jobs by arresting them...to bad that cant sentence them too.
Let us SEE these hoodlums.
John Edison - GREAT JOB!
I would have "shot" them though, they could have KILLED your family. There INTENT was criminal!
But I would like to know how they knew about this ahead of time. Anyone know the true facts, and not guess?
So you're saying to cut the sheriff jobs, as in all the deputies to and have the State Patrol and GBI respond to county calls. Possible? Yes. There will still have to be some deputies because its the responsibility of the Sheriff to provide a county jail and protect the courthouse. For the calls out in the county we could use GSP and GBI. Keep in mind that now at night there is one GSP officer thats covering 6 counties. So response time to calls may be a little long. The GBI has no officers working at night, so their on call agent would have to be woken out of bed...obviously an even longer response time.
So in short, your reasoning makes about as much sense as your ability to form sentences.
Elvis is dead and Leroy ain't feeling so good himself.
Leroy took a lickin' and kept on tickin'...but man does his head hurt.
[Yep, I loved Lewis. We had supper together in Macon. He would have named this article:]
I am having car trouble. Can you help me get to the jail?
Have you met the district attorney?
Well MRS. JEFFRIES you should be glad the proud husband you have, whom served by 2 deployments was invading Mr Edisons home and not mine cause you would now be the WIDOW JEFFRIES!
I Don't do warning shots or waste bullets in the air.
Do you even know what you're talking about? I believe the term you are trying to use is PTSD= Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Please don't "throw around" or "blanket" this term on someone that comes back and is having "issues" as there are those of us whose life are forever changed by effects of PTSD. After serving multiple tours in the Middle East my husband will never be the same man I married but I'm pretty confident that he has enough love for his GOD, his family and his country that he would never act in this type of behavior.
There is more to this situation than is being released now. Anyone want to bet $50 that meth plays a part in this?
Step 2: Call everyone trash and morons.
Step 3: Make perfect sense.
Step 4: Realize that Step 1 and Step 2. contradict each other, therefore making step 3 impossible.
Step 5: Everyone chuckles quietly to themselves at the irony.
Step 6: Sign off the internet and never return.
Step 7: The internet becomes a better place.
1: Is your husband a methaphetamine user? yes/no
2: Was this altercation drug related? yes/no
And MONEY !!!!
I have known Mr. Jeffries for a few years, and he is a very troubled young man who needs help with his issues. While I do believe that he should atone for what he has done, at the same time the system should help him get himself together, lest he is turned loose to do something totally insane again.
in simple terms - 3 guys tried to break in a house. one of them carried away an a$$ whooping and all three were caught.
"To Protect" is so intensely drilled into the military troups heads when deployed. Not that this was right, I personally can somewhat understand the mindset and frustration.
looks like some people need to get their story straight before they get on here & post their opinions. i know for a fact one of those guys is NOT a redneck thug as hes been called. how many of you actually know these guys? or thier reasons for what they did?
from your "neighboring county" maybe you should check into your local meth dealer! get the WHOLE story before you make accusations. just because they committed a crime doesnt mean that your victim is completely innocent!
No, this is not a way to handle issues in civilian life, and they will suffer consequences. But when ALL THE FACTS have been told, perhaps more of us will understand.
And don’t make assumptions that no one else has ever experienced war. Thousands of people are living among us have. Have you? Being stupid is not an excuse for his actions.
Let me explain it for you.
In biblical times lots of crimes were punishable by stoning. A woman caught in adultery was stoned although the man was not.
When a woman caught in such a crime was brought before him (as a trap for him) he said let he who is pure cast the first stone. Jesus was saying OK if you are pure and innocent then go ahead and kill the woman, knowing that we all carry sins, although some are very small. He knew it was a trap for him and found an excellent way of escaping it. He told the woman to go and sin no more but this was also a message for those who accused her and who were also guilty of the same thing. The fist stone literally meant the first stone in the stoning of the woman; Not the first stone ever thrown.
I am not throwing stones because I can honestly say I have never committed an armed robbery, but if I did, I would expect to be punished this way. We aren't trying to execute these men, but I do not think we should turn our heads because one fought for our country. That doesn't excuse the behavior and the military definitely would not put up with this behavior. Send their butts to prison. This is not a war zone and they can't be busting into people's houses with guns. PERIOD. THE END.
I understand the issues of the soldiers seeing all kinds of stuff overseas but some things that goes on here are fully thought out and people cant continue to use the "afgan or iraq" card when something goes wrong. I know a guy that has had more close calls (actually been in a hummer that was blown up and all his buddies were dead next to him) and been in many many situations alike that a vast majority or soldiers dont ever experience. He goes to the VA and takes meds/counseling and still goes to work everyday at a major commercial airline company. He has lots of stuff to deal with but does what it takes to try and cope with it. I know that everyone is different but we cant pat soldiers on the back and say everything is ok during certain situations that may arise in the states. I will be lurking around for more updates on this situation.
