Afghan medical mission ends in death for 10

They hiked for more than 10 hours over rugged mountains — unarmed and without security — to bring medical care to isolated Afghan villagers until their humanitarian mission took a tragic turn.

Ten members of the Christian medical team — six Americans, two Afghans, one German and a Briton — were gunned down in a gruesome slaughter that the Taliban said they carried out, alleging the volunteers were spying and trying to convert Muslims to Christianity. The gunmen spared an Afghan driver, who recited verses from the Islamic holy book Quran as he begged for his life.

there is a saying - kill em all. let God sort em out. that about sums it up for the talaban. the problem is that america is too soft hearted. you can't be that way when you're dealing with an enemy like this. one problem is that they know it and rely on it. the war could have been over long ago if america went after them, hunted them down and sent them to ala. we won't ever get finished playing the game of stand around with a thumb inserted hoping they get tired and go away. obama wants to kiss ass instead of kick ass.

How many planes have christians hijacked? I understand that all muslims are not radical, but do we wait for a terrorist act to determine which ones are bad? Do we keep letting them into the country and educate them so that they can back home and eduate the terrorist on what the best way to attack us is? Im not ok with that. You cannot compare Christian extremists with Muslim extremists...Are you really that naive? The Quran commands Muslims to kill infidels who will not convert! Last time I checked, Christians don't go around killing those who won't convert. Maybe if they did; however, they would be more respected [or feared] like the Muslims.

Islamic extremists are no different from Christian extremists or anyone who kills in the name of God. Murder is an abomination, regardless of who does it.

There are AMERICANS of all different faiths in our country. The freedom to worship as we choose, as I recall, is one of the things that make our country great. This sensational headline (yes, even in an opinion column) does nothing but fuel Islamic hatred, and that intolerance is patently UN-American.

But wouldn't it be called sensationalism for a religious group to build a religious mosque and rec center less than 2 blocks from where that religion's extremist committed one of the deadliest single attacks on American soil...killing thousands of innocent people in the name of their religion. The truth is, the person who planned this mosque knew this was going to happen, but he wants it for a deeper reason. He knows to build a mosque there will be like spitting in the face of the Christians of America and he knows America's leadership is so weak (and liberal) right now, they would give in & allow him to build it. So before you cry afoul to how Americans are reacting, shouldn't you also cry foul for the decision of the religious leader who picked the location.

You are clearly ignorant of the facts concerning your arguement. 1) Name one church that has an abortion clinic near it. And if you do scrounge around long enough to find one in the entire country, I bet the church was there first. I have never in my life heard of one of the very few abortion doctor deaths where the shooter was screaming "praise to the Christian God" when he/she was pulling the trigger. Anti-abortion people are not doing it because of religious motivation but for the taking of a human life. 2) The Oklahoma bombing had nothing to do with religion but a retaliation of the government bombing the Branch Dividian compound in Waco. McViegh thought the government had overstepped its bounds and they were getting even with big government...not big religion. 3) They are killing Christians in the Mideast for spreading the Word of God. Let's see what would happen in Afghanistan if America did build a Christian church and family life center where the deaths of 10 Christian volunteers took place this past weekend. Before you start shooting off the hip in an online debate, make sure you do have at least a few actual facts to back up your side of the arguements so you don't look so dang foolish. But since you are anonymous, it doesn't really matter what you say anyway does it.

Then the story is about an attack by the Taliban-not Muslims in America.
No. These are NOT the people who want to worship at ground zero.
And I can't believe we have people in our community calling for the deaths of Americans--these are people who haven't attacked anyone.
They call God a different name than most of us around these parts.
If thinking we should kill or round up people who are different from me is the definition of being a good American or a Christian then I guess I'm not very good at being either one of those things.
