Friday night's 'Battle of Potato Creek', featuring the Lamar Trojans and Pike Pirates, will likely attract a standing room only crowd to Trojan Field.
You can save some money and avoid ticket lines by purchasing your tickets in advance Thursday or Friday.
This will be the 27th meeting between Lamar County and Pike County in football. The Trojans lead the series, which began in 1976, 19-7.
Of those 26 previous meetings, one has been played ON Halloween (2008), one has been played the day before Halloween (2009) and two have been played the same week as Halloween (1996-97).
I'm not sure how long Buggy Days has been held the third full weekend in September but the Trojans and Pirates have rarely met in that time frame. Hardly enough to call it the Buggy Bowl, which has nothing to do directly with our good neighbors from Pike County except that they are very welcome to come over and join in the festivities.
I think Anon #7.2 makes a strong argument that since the two counties are divided by Potato Creek the moniker "The Potato Creek War" is very appropriate.

Great job guys!
Cheerleaders you are the best!
Ready for the playoffs.
"The cumulative record of the teams they have played is 11-13 while Pike's are 5-17."
Pike will be in for a whale of a ballgame. The Trojans have faced stiffer tests, and should be ready for this one.
