More than 9,300 tax bills will go out in the mail Wednesday, Sept. 29, said tax commissioner Andrea Anthony.

How the hell can we file homestead. I thought that was done away with last year. I know that taxes are just a part of life but this crap gets old getting taxed from every direction

Breaking news. Lamar County Commissioners said Cutting the Sheriffs and Public workers "Sheriffs cut and Public workers cut". New teacher and School budget cuts.

Make sure you pay your taxes so you can pay all those local government employees who feel like they don't answer to you.

Let me get this straight since I am fairly new at this.
On this bill, whatever the fair market value is, that is what I am playing taxes on right?
What is the assessed value, exempt value (is this homestead exemption), taxable value?

i wish i could sell my house for what they think its worth
what i don/t understand is their thought on fair market value. lol they have a building at double the cost to build a new 1 go figure
i have offered to sell it to them but no takers

I feel your pain Goober Peas. Maybe the LC gov't officials will give out free toys to homeowners who bring a tax bill as proof that they paid taxes. Just for charity of course, and using some of their 'Travel' money. Then they can write it off on their taxes as a charitable donation.

They tax you to death because they want to make sure those who are not rich can't afford to keep their property and, in turn, have to sell to those that can afford the taxes on said property. One day cash will not matter and your property will be the gold mine.
