Please support the giving tree at Slices. Our family has already chosen some stockings from the tree, and look forward to returning our gifts for those less fortunate.
Yes Drop by and pick a stocking off the tree. Bring it back, unwrapped and receive a free beverage. Lets help the Empty Stocking Fund Kick Off this year with a BANG...
Its important to remember, even tho we fuss about taxes and composting plants, that Barnesville is still a great small town, with minimal crime, and a good place to raise a family. My favorite thing about Barnesville is the downtown area. Neither Griffin or Thomaston have the downtown that Barnesville does. I am thankful to live here, and enjoy the small-town community atmosphere.
that sounds good and all but I could "keep it real" and really put my thoughts out about the negative points of this town but they will not post them. I have lived here all my life like some of the others have. As soon as this economy picks up myself and many many others are out of here. I challenge you to just fill the ole car up one day and just ride around. Go up and down every street around here and just take notes or atleast mental notes. Give us a rough estimate of how many houses are forsale around here. If this place was so great to live in, houses would be on the market for a week or so and would be under contract or either people wouldnt be selling at all. It will be madness when this economy picks up. There will be 5x more homes forsale. Granted, we have it better than say Riverdale or Jonesboro but this place is getting worse every year with the people it attracts.
gotta wait until the economy picks up some. I dont rent from the Wallers or spring property. Sorry! I cant just pack up and move. There are plenty of places in Ga that dont have all the stupidity that Barnesville is attracting.
Do you have anything educational to add to this topic? Do you agree or disagree that there are a shit load of houses forsale and this place is attracting the wrong crowd for the most part. There are a lot of people that dont agree with the way things are going and are wanting to move.
Don't wake the bear inside....A two year old boy eats with his parents at a local pizzeria, eyeing those colorful ballons strung about....man they look fun. The little boy curiously approaches the owner(after permission from his father)...maam, can I have a balloon? "Sorry , those are for a birthday party tomorrow". A two year old? denied a balloon worth a nickel? Talk about crushing a spirit...not cool. Yes, this really did happen.
Pot holes bigger than your car, homes for sale every where on every street, and minimal crime?? Huh? read the paper every week, Drugs, Gangs... minimal crime? I feel about as safe here as I do in downtown Atlanta.. hahaha. Atleast in Atlanta, you can drive about five blocks without tearing up your car. And we have to all drive out of town to go shopping! Downtown? shopping? Oh if you want a movie,a candle or to get your hair done? You can get your hair done cheaper and better if you drive out of town to get it done. And I wonder why alot of people that actually DO live here, send their children to schools out of town?? The people that Do live here, wont be here much longer. They ALL have to drive out of town to go to work too. There is almost NOTHING here anymore.
Pot holes bigger than your car, huh? Are you sure that you are not exaggerating a bit? If you think that about Atlanta, I challenge you to move there, and see if you still feel the same way. Every town in the world has some crime. No, Barnesville is not perfect. But no place is. I have lived several places in the US, including Los Angeles among some other large cities. So I have seen true high crime areas. Take a little vacation and drive trhu Inglewood CA and see if you still have such a tainted view of Barnesville GA. And if you are not involved in trying to make this town better, then quit your bitchin! Meanwhile, I will raise my family in this small town, and enjoy the slow way of life that it offers.
