Turnout was light Tuesday as just over 400 Lamar voters cast ballots in two judicial races on the statewide general election runoff. Considerable taxpayer money was spent on the election which drew lukewarm interest at best.

What is a waste is that our elections have to be decided by a 50% plus one vote to win. We should change our rules to reflect how other states decide the outcome, a simple majority vote. The candidate with the most votes wins, no mater how many are running for a position. We waste so much money on stupidity.
