Taxpayers are fed up and rightly so.

Property owners pay for darn near everything and they are sick and tired of it.

TEA Party big talk no walk.it will be shot down as soon as somebody starts crying racism.because none of them have the guts to stand up for their beleifs.as long as they have a packed house full of their white friends their fine, but put them in front of a black crowd they will crumble like a stale cookie.

What about those "FAT CAT WALLSTREET BOYS" addicted to you money? Maybe that is who you need rage at, they are living, eating, shopping, shooting up there wives up with botox, and ballin' off your tax money. That's the "NEW DEAL" these days and you sit and allow it to happen.

Its easier to pick on the poor people..but dont waste your time...folks down here are to busy with their own rage at people who have lost their jobs and have to rely on food stamps that they cant possibly understand our rage at the jerks at wall st who have been trickling down upon us (and Im not talking about money).
Not all rich people earn their money in a moral manner and not all poor people are poor because they choose to be.

Excellent recap of our various social and governmental ills. We are rapidly becoming a third-world country. In many areas, the only difference between our county and some third-world countries is we have a better standard of living.

As for the self-identified TEA Partier, obviously afflicted with a severe case of “foot-in-the-mouth” syndrome; however, probably would be an upgrade for the dais.

How totally racist is this comment. IF the government would start cutting some of the freebies to the black people they too would join the Teaparty and they deffinatly would not vote for obammie AGAIN.

Believe you me I'm sick and tired of being taxed to death, I had to split up my property and give it to me children because I can't afford to pay the taxes any more! I am 66 and do not have any children in School and have not in many years but I pay so much in school taxes it's pitiful! I rode by the High School the other night and saw a blinking sign out side and I know we pay for that too, why is the sign needed and why are all the lights left on at night, so an intruder can see how to get around, why not have motion detectors instead of the lights left on 24/7 !!!!!!
I am against welfair, food stamps and any of the rest of this crap, I think it should be for the elderly only and I mean 70 and older!
We never had free anything when I was growing up and we made it just fine. WE WORKED FOR IT!!
I personally know a family who gets a check every month because the daughter had ONE seasure as a child and none since then but she fakes it every now and then so she can keep getting a check, now is this right? Hell no and lots of Gov. funded things aren't right. BUT we as tax payers pay fot it like it or not!
I've only rode in an ambulance once and never again after this even if I have to crawl to to the ER! My insurance pays for the ambulance and my home owners ins. pays for fire so why should we have to fork out more money we don't have. I've lived here all my life and I'm so sick of this town and half the high and mighty people in it. If I could afford to move I would have yesterday.
I don't have a great education and my spelling isn't the best but I went to school in Lamar Co. .....enough said!

The extra few bucks on my paycheck from lower taxes will not help me much given the fact that I have not received a cost of living raise in years. Its more expensive to purchase the necessities now than it has ever been. Go big business! I need to know the secret to posting record breaking profits during a recession and still not hire any additional workers. Its like magic.

I agree with what you are saying, Walter. I wonder why the persons who receive the majority of these benefits, dont have to put up anything to pay for them. I wonder if Apartment Owners are paying a proportionate share of these taxes. Their tenants are probably the larger users of these services. I feel the politicians are on a pass it on to the rate payers, for anything they want.

While I doubt that anyone favors higher taxes, one has to wonder about TEA partiers. For example, let's look at education. If parents in Lamar County had to pay the full cost of their children's education out of their pockets, they would be outraged. For argument's sake, let's assume that all school personnel would argee to a 75 percent pay cut; we're still looking at about $2000 per student that would have to come out of every parent's pocket. At Gordon, tuition and fees are about 60 percent of the national average. If all state funding were cut, then the students would have to pay just about the national average of $2500 per semester plus books. Yet I can guarentee that students and parents would be outraged. The fact is, everyone benefits from having a more educated populace.

One could argue that having an ignorant population spurs economic growth and leads to prosperity, but I cannot think of any examples in history where that has been the case. Some things, like fire protection, education, or national defense, are good for the country.

Those are just a few examples. Of course our system is not perfect, but in general, it does more good than harm. And yes, politicians are corrupt and want to spend what is not theirs. The solution, however, is to be informed and active. How many TEA partiers actually bothered to vote?

i do pay for my child to go to a private school and im tired of paying for everyone elses to go to public. it is actually cheaper for a child to go to a private school. oh, but what would truby do then?

Teaparty is a great name it takes a lot of people to get in to make it work. If the government would stop giving out freebies to all the minorities and start making them earn what they get maybe then we will get out of this perdicament. What has being in front of a black crowd got to do with it. Maybe its because it the majority that gets all the benefits.

Its amazing to me how people have been able to blame the "least of these" individuals for all of our country's problems.
Why dont we round up all the poor people and put them in internment camps. Along with immigrants, muslims and anyone else that is not a well-to-do wasp.
Lord knows that if you have not been blessed with money, God must not love you and its all your fault. Blessed are the rich..

I think the point of the story is that the working class is tired of supporting the welfare class. I grew up in Barnesville and there are families that were on welfare and had no intentions of giving up a free check. These people then have kids that see this and they grow up with the same intent...keep the checks coming!! The way to fix this is to put time limits on welfare benefits based off of how much a person pays into the system, similar to unemployment. If you have never worked then you can't have a realistic expectation of receiving benefits you never contributed into. The community has to stop the welfare breeding grounds.

Thank you for your response. What a lot of people fail to realize is that there are many people in the system who work but are underpaid. These are your cashiers, school lunch ladies, garbage men, carpenters etc..These people have yet to benefit from the trickle down effect and make their ends meet by relying on food stamps and medicaid. Not everyone is college material. If you want these jobs to be held by non-hispanic immigrants, you have to be willing to pay them a living wage.
As for the abusers of the system who choose not to work, I suggest mandatory job training, drug testing and birth control.. but do not punish their children for the parents mistakes. Also be ready to add additional children to the foster care system..which costs money.
Either way, tax payers will pay. The middle class is supporting more than just the welfare class. Wealth is trickling up.

Too many people think they are doing something good by attempting to take care of people who refuse to take care of themselves.

Fact is; those people who think they are doing a good deed are actually doing a disservice to those who do nothing. You have instilled a thought process in them that if they wish to do nothing, others will provide. Therefore they continue to milk the system. Still others have discovered that the more children they produce the more welfare money is available and babies are produced for the wrong reason.

It is shameful what some people have allowed this country to become. While it is true that some people fall on difficult times and need assistance. It is another thing all together for some people to take advantage of a system on a forever basis.

The world has come to accept that discrimination is wrong however, a vast amount of “liberals” consider discriminating against the wealthy is perfectly acceptable. They believe that because they have so much that it should be a law that they be forced to share their efforts with those who never lifted a finger to help themselves. Actually, those wealthy usually had to start in the basement too and build. They may have built themselves wealth but at the same time they did it on providing jobs to those who were willing to go to work. Now all of a sudden those that didn’t want any work involvement consider it wrong that some worked their way to the top and should be obligated to share.

These days’ people get tax refunds of more than they ever paid into the system. Why? Someone has to flip that bill and it is usually those that actually do pay into the system. It is hard to believe that those of you who do nothing and expect to receive something expect even more.

Everyone is paying taxes for the school system. Why not have "school choice". You get a voucher or whatever to go to the school of your choice. Either you go to a school in your county, or you can chose a private school if your child meets the requirments.
