Though Barnesville police have released no additional information, details of the Dec. 5 home invasion murder of 21-year-old Danavan Frank Bussey here continue to trickle out.

WHY IF SOMEONE IS MURDERED; DOES LAMAR COUNTY NEWSPAPER FIND IT NECESSARY TO PUT UP SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE "DECEASED" PERSON? I MEAN WHERE IS THE RESPECT FOR THE FAMILY AND THAT PARTICULAR PERSON WHO LOST HIS LIFE? THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! WHO CARES ABOUT A "PRIOR ARREST"? MORALS THESE DAYS!! GEESH! Wow,... I know the family. Never met the kid. I do know the folks who have kids,siblings, other relatives know someone who is not a saint. Why crucify the kid when we all have done some "dirt" in our lifetime. From a law abiding citizen, give the kid a break, and stop showing ignorance")

I like to know why a victim might have been targeted. It helps me decide how exposed I am to things like that. Since I don't associate with thugs and drugs, it relaxes me to see a difference in lifestyle probably plays a role in getting killed. This doesn't justify the killing but it puts it in perspective of how to avoid getting killed.

Because it paints a true picture of the thugs that have been allowed to penetrate Lamar County by way of Gordon College. Gordon needs a major overhaul in admission requirements. I'm tired of my tax dollars sending thugs to college on a free ride. They come with no intention of earning a degree. The majority of them are not even taking college level classes. They are enrolled in learning support. And guess what...I'm paying for them to be there learning what they should have learned in high school (and no, it isn't the high school's fault either!)

Sadly enough, #1, if the deceased had a public track record, it is what it is. You know what I mean. No one ever deserves to die like the deceased did. Those guys in jail will remember this for the rest of their days.

The Gazette is in the business of providing the news. If the deceased had something on his record that was of a public matter, it will be acknowledged in times like these. The same is true of the three gentlemen being held for his murder. Maybe you'd feel better if the newspaper will track down the public record of all the three charged and publicize them. Ah, Walter, here's a new task for you. Can you report back to us in a week or so. Thanks

Why does it not matter? Just maybe if he did not go down the road he was on he would still be alive. Maybe it will show someone their path in life needs to change and open there eyes on what life is all about.

No somethings should not be left alone. Its not good when anyone dies, but in this instance some are painting this guy as a Saint when in fact he was the devil that just got caught in his on actions.

I agree to needed respect of the deceased and their family.

But, there are all of the facts to be considered and if the victim was mixed up with the thugs that murdered him ... it will come out and it is an ongoing investigation and case.

Therefore, it is public information. Not disrespect and I am sure that it was not menat to be.

Cause it proves he wasn't just a innocent victim. There is always 2 sides to every story and now we are getting another. True he didn't deserve to be shot and those 3 didn't have to be out doing illegal activities as they were.

This may be a cautionary tale. We have a little more info now.
So what were the 3 going in to rob from Mr. Bussey?
It probably wasn't his Gordon College textbooks, it was probably drugs.
And if you drive around with a Glock and marijuana in your car, are you at an increased risk for meeting some violence in your life?
Again, with all due respect to the young man's family, it seems young Mr. Bussey was engaging in risky behavior which may have placed him in harm's way.

the stop was in june six months prior to his murder i don't see why it is necessary to bring it up unless it has something to do with the current case...

Is it his job to taint any possible jury in this case, with "facts" he didn't get from law enforcement? With so many idiots in this town it doesnt matter I guess. It may be a good thing to have it moved. Remember the teacher who identified the guy who sold her pot? She pointed right to him in court. The dumb a** jury found him not guilty. Remember the Smith case. That was the most unbelievable case to date. How often do you tape an explosive device to someone to protect them...lol...but the jury found him not guilty.

So please Walter keep printing all of the info you get from your reliable sources.

I agree, you can tell that city has a lot of small town ignorance just from some of the post on here. A person is dead because a senseless act by three punks. Who cares about his past, he doesn't have a murder charge or murder conviction. If the three murderers wanted to rob the victim, then the gun should have not been brought with them. Tangible items can be replaced, but someones life and all their possiblities can't.

Regardless of who the shooter was, trouble lurks, all it takes is being in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong acquaintance/company), unfortunately, all three should be charged the same, if they were aware that a killing was going to take place. Barnesville, has been reputable fo its hospitality, where has that gone. Children killing children, too many have been silenced, INTERVENTION is needed to STOP THE VIOLENCE.

And for the other complainers..... when a person is born, a beginning year is provided to them (1955). When they die, an ending year is provided to them (2010). So, you'd write 1955 - 2010. The dates are separated by a "dash"..... the dash represents the life they lived. Walter has simply helped to fill in the dash about the deceased. I can't imagine he was trying to do harm. Were you Walt?

I am sure that the victims dash contained more than with happened six months ago. Maybe the writer should interview the victims teachers/professors, pastor, friends or how about his grieving mother and father if he was to be so kind as to fill in the dash.

I don't agree with people dealing drugs(if that is the case) or committing crimes in our town, but why is it okay with some of you that a man was gunned down, robbed or what ever the case? If that's okay with you, think about how many of you or your family members would be dead today... I have learned to hold my tongue and not rush to judge others. I try to live right and I have to admit I have some skeletons in my closet.(Not from the lack of trying to do the right thing)and so do most of you.IF you want to share something tell your own business. Even though some of the articles I read get under my skin, I know Mr. Walt is only doing his job.

His prior arrest does not justify his murder. In fact that has nothing to do with the recent incident. Lamar County just doesnt have anything better to do other than to dig up irrelevant garbage to cover up the fact that they are too ignorant to properly investigate the murder. Explain why every time something major happens in barnesville, they immediately call the GBI to investigate. I can explain for you...they are too sorry to do the job themselves. Lamar County's PD and Sheriff Dept need major help. If I could, I'd fire all of them with the exception of one or two.

Come on now everyone knows criminal records stay on the record for the rest of your life. Unless you are pardoned by the parole board you are still considered a criminal.
