If someone is going to suffer the consequence of a cover-up, the go down for this theft, then all parties involved better begin to hide. More than one signature were on the payroll checks, therefore more than one committed the crime. Where was the overseer, did he not review payroll before it went out.
As a former county employee I can tell you that employees' paychecks had two signatures on them. Mr. Matthews' and Mr. Patterson's. They knew exactly what was going on when it was going on. Maybe Ms. Ellerby isn't a saint here and I'm not taking up for her but she's not the only crooked one in this scenario.
From what I hear from the local talk around town, Jay Matthews is trying to bring Wayne Patterson back. He already has the new commissioner that beat out George Brown on his side. He just needs to convince one more commissioner (Hearn or Horton) to vote to do this and then he can come in and break the tie as Chairman. People might have voted the wrong guy into office. Mr. Glass might end up being a "yes" man to Jay Matthews. If you look back over Chairman Matthews statements. He was against Waynew Patterson being fired and he also said they should have waited til the lst of the year to vote. It is easy to figure that one out now. Glass would be in and George Brown out and with some back room closed door talks, he probably figured he could have talked one of the other commissioners to come on board. He has lost power not having Wayne Patterson in as "his county administrator." And if the other commissioners have a say in this next county administrator , hopefully it will not be someone Chairman Matthews can wrap around his finger and control. Chairman Matthews has his own agenda going on in this county and the sooner he can be recalled the better it will be for the county. It would have been interesting to see the results of a lie detector test for Jay Matthews. Ms. Ellerby did wrong, Wayne Patterson did wrong, Chairman Matthews did wrong. Something is wrong with this picture. 2 down 1 to go.
I agree with you about Matthews he also hired the NEW office manager without any input from any of the other commissioners. I'm not saying she is not a nice person but there were alot more qualified applicants that could have been given a chance. I hope the rest of the commissioners have enough guts to think for themselves.
“We know where it went,” said chairman Jay Matthews. “The amount was $7,700, and it went into her paycheck in weekly amounts from February of 2009 to July 2010.”
He added that the commission is “still exploring avenues” to deal with what they believe to be wrongful actions by Ellerby, despite a grand jury ruling that a joint GBI/sheriff’s office investigation did not find enough evidence to warrant further inquiry into the commission’s charges.
The grand jury also recommended that Ellerby be given her job back or be allowed to collect unemployment benefits.
WTF........Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles can see better than this bunch of "blind to justice" people.
Can someone please tell me who stole and spent the money? Who was it stolen from? Who is going to pay it back? I do not believe the GBI was even involved myself, surely fraud is still a crime to the GBI, right? Was this Grand Jury exhumed from a graveyard? They had to be to have no thought process. God is gonna get y'all for that.
