Please no power outages..It takes way too long to get the power back on.. The last time we had an ice storm in B'ville we were without power for 4 days..Miserable was the word.
The question is, what is this piss poor county gonna do about preparing for this. You cant put stuff down after the roads are in bad condition. It needs to be done by 6pm sunday evening. Sand isnt the answer.
Bring it on, nice fire, chicken and dumplings, chilli, coffee and a good book, I worked for an essential service for many years and had to be away from home for the duration, it's my turn to watch the wonders of nature from my recliner with a blanket. Say a prayer for the linemen and other folks that work in the mess to make our life pleasant, offer them food, a cup of coffee and a place to warm up..it's ok if they track in a little sludge. Don't complain if you are out of electricity or phone service, they are working hard, fast and long.
Southern Rivers and all the employees do a great job. How would YOU like to be out in an ice storm repairing lines? Our power source is so much better than it was 35 years ago.
umm i would'nt wanna be out repairing lines if i did i would of took that job but i did'nt its there job to repair lines during an ice tornado or what ever, plus there slow the food spoils by the time they get the power back on
Your attitude toward the power crew's restoration time during times of mass outage is terrible. These people work long hours in terrible weather conditions to provide a service to the public that we too often take for granted. If you are unfortunate enough to lose power during the impending ice storm, I hope your power will be the last restored, which will probably still be too soon as far as I'm concerned.
We have a whole house generator from the last time we had no power for days during a hurricane and ran across a close-out deal on a brand new spare last year. Takes the worry out. Runs the whole house just like the power line does.
Sharing the power grid with Heritage Inn Nursing home means we are sure to get our power restored much quicker.
Although there are things to be said for living in the country, I sure like my creature comforts.
Just went up 36 from TJs to Flash Foods at 9 am; roads have not had any work done to them. And they are slicker than owl poo. Be very careful and go slowly.
Hat's off to Lamar County hey did a good job cleaning the roads.Atlanta should be a shame for all them wrecks hey caused by not doing there jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!
