Well-known local businessman Tony Byars died early this morning. He was the husband of Lamar County school board chairman Susan Byars.
Byars had been hospitalized for some time.
Funeral arrangements are not yet complete and will be announced later.

I worked for Tony " back in the day " at the Diagnostic Prison. Good boss, good friend, good fellow. he is missed. God's comforts to the family.

I was so sad to learn this. Tony and Susan are just deeply good people. He will be missed, and she will need our support to get through this loss. My prayers go up for the family.

I grew up down the street from Mr Byars and he was a nice man with a great family. He'll be missed. I have lots of nice memories of Tony outside in his driveway and working around his home. Sorry to hear this news.
