Northeastern Lamar County is in the crosshairs of developers once again. This time a toll road for big rigs could carve up the neighborhood.
UPDATE: Commission chairman Jay Matthews reported Thursday he met with a Paulding County delegation last summer about the roadway and he told them Lamar was not interested. "I thought it was a dead issue," Matthews said.

They where going to leave the original hwy around high falls road and take land and homes. Some properties were going to be cut in half. It was to go just north of the city pond. The plan was to straighten hwy 36 on the north side.
These plans were at the courthouse.
Well,,,, mini-me aint got no say cuz he aint got no,,, knows how..
Buggytown Backwater vetoed that and the present routing was selected.
O course that hasn't kept Wally off the 15,000 feet that is in Lamar county in search of press releases and pats on the back by the Feds.
Meanwhile Henry and Spalding county experience significant growth because of I-75. Lamar continues to wither.
I agree!! YOU go to the "action", don't bring it here!!
Butt's county does well on their 3 miles of interstate also. Lamar Co should shoot radar on the stretch of 41 in front of Wendy's. It's 45 mph and I see people speeding all the time there.
It'll change soon enough. 25 years ago at exit's 221 and 218 there wasn't much there, now...............
25 years from now hwy 36 will probably look like that.
Keep it Mayberry!!!
And yeah, Lamar is a nice quiet suburb...
...broke too.
But we have a college! Drugz Ur Us University.
Move to Meansville if you want quiet. This place needs jobs. Aldora won't last forever.
Also, get to the root of the truck traffic. There is a plan in Savannah to deepen the Savannah Port to allow larger container ships.
I am preparing to fight this and everyone needs to educate themselves to do make sure we get the best for our community.
