After a month-long investigation, Spalding sherif Dee Stewart and his deputies conducted multiple gambling raids at convenience stores and other establishments.

Why you getting on Walter? If you would read carefully you would see that he wrote the initial sentence in the article and the rest was a press release verbatim from the Spalding County Sheriff's Office. Maybe you should take up your beef with them.
I note the owners all have names that are diffult to pronounce.
Are these people immigrants? Do they have a current Green Card?
If all this is correct, why should these persons be returned to their country of origin?
Did the gambling enterprise at the Chevron Hot Shot on Hwy 41 North of Barnesville move inside the newly constructed room so their machines are hidden from view? Lot of good it did to arrest a couple of employees a few months ago. Did they have a building permit to very quickly construct that room?
A visit from the Assessors Office and Code Enforcement needs to be scheduled to check it out.
BTW: Why isn't law enforcement busting the Reliable Mart on Hwy 41 at Grove Street? There is always a line of suckers waiting for an available machine. The players look like they need every dime just to survive. Are brown bag payments being made to local officials in order to allow this criminal enterprise to continue?
I want to read about these lawbreakers getting busted by local cops or I will call the IRS and RAT them out!
NO TAXES ARE PAID ON PROCEEDS FROM THESE ILLEGAL GAMBLING OPERATIONS! STOP IT!
It shouldnt be any of your business what a person does with the money that they earn. How are your rights affected by this behavior. I think it is stupid and ignorant for them to do such, but its none of my business if they want to put a few bucks or 2000 bucks in a machine. Should we not have a Griffin or Perry fair because people go down there and spend money enjoying themselves. Get a life clown.
I dont have a problem with the state of GA charging a 1500 or 3000 dollar tax stamp on each machine. Thats fine. However, telling people how they can spend their money is horse crap.
Im with Silent Bob #7 on this one.
To answer your question about "Why isn't law enforcement busting the Reliable Mart on Hwy 41 at Grove Street? ". The Reliable Mart isn't out on 75 (which is where our Sheriff chooses to do most of his progressive enforcement)
my out of work husband went down to that there Reliable station to get gas in our truck. he came back home with half tank gas and no money. he told me he put his last $60 in them gamblin machine. they pray on poor folks looking to hit a jackpot. is this legal in barnesville.
Sounds like you should have an issue with your husband, not the store. I'm struggling with finances too, but you'll never see me in one of these stores "hoping to hit the jackpot". You and your husband needs to learn some personal responsibility and quit blaming your environment.
Meanwhile the state of Georgia continues to rip off poor people with something they call The Georgia Lottery. People should know they stand a better chance of getting struck by lightining than they do of winning big in The Georgia Lottery. What makes one legal and the other illegal? Oh, that's right, the state get their cut of the money and that makes it okay. People come up and tell you they played the lottery and won this and that. They never come up and tell you they played and lost. Which is what happens most of the time.
Hey Nick. You know how to use spell check. So what! People that complain about spelling know how to use spell check. Does that make you feel superior or something? I don't know Walter and I'm sure glad I don't know you, Mr. Perfect Spelling. Since you comment was the first one on here, you must have sat up late so you do on that. LOL!!
Why is it in this day and age there are even laws that prohibit gambling? What business is it of the government to outlaw people from betting their own money and prevent vendors from offering a means of doing so? Gambling prohibition is as archaic and backward as the Sunday alcohol sales ban. Why should someone be denied buying or selling alcohol based upon a religious interpretation of the sanctity of a day? Faith should be an individual decision, not a collective one where the observances of one faith should be imposed on everyone. How can the alcohol and gambling prohibitions even be constitutional?
People spending their government checks to gamble when they should be using it to support their households is wrong. No it isn't anyones business what they spend it on but when they are depending on the support of the taxpayer then we do have a right to say something about it. They don't have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from so they just keep feeding the machines. As far as a person who earns their paycheck then it is okay by me that they spend it anyway they please. As long as these foreigners coming over to America and getting tax breaks and government money to establish their business all they have to do is go back to their own country for a couple of weeks out of the year they don't have to become citizens. What happened to America taking care of its own citizens instead of making us struggle to support anti Americans?
How do you know its their govnt checks they are spending? What about pay checks. How will you ensure that these people that get govnt checks only spend it on house hold items and not Ga Lott, cigarettes, beer, gas, fast food, etc. Instead of sending a govnt check to people, start making a voucher specifically to Ga power, groceries, southern rivers, city hall etc. not just a check for cash.
Its still their free will to spend the money how they want. Cancel their checks if they misuse the funds. Dont punish everyone for the ones who think they are entitled to something.
owning and operating one of these stores must be one of those jobs that white americans just wont do.....we have really became very lazy....we wont cut grass, wont do construction, wont work on highway jobs, wont operate motels, wont manage fast food places, wont manage convenient stores, and definitely wont drive cabs or buses
No time for these crimes. Just look at the names. Prison cells are reserved for black and white Americans. So why even publish it. This will only make new government money available to them for something else.
Answers: No, No, I is don't remember, Maybe
