BBQ & Blues drew its largest Friday night crowd ever as throngs of people sampled barbecue and stew and rocked to the sounds of 4U2C, the Melflames and the Buckeye band.

Funny. I thought last year was the biggest year. The question I have is why is this being held on Easter Weekend?

This is an exciting event to attend but when you work or own a business it is exhausting. I work from 3 to 10 at night then have to detour around the event to get home and when I go outside at 11 or so you can still hear to noise and I live about 2 miles out of town this just tells you that it is too loud. People do have a right to have peace and quiet in their own homes.

I usually don't respond to such, but first of all, it is "tale" not "tail". A "tail" is something on an animal. And I don't know the person who posted the comment in which you responded, but I understand the frustration. Just trying to conduct any normal business downtown was a little frustrating due to the traffic. But what the BBQ and Blues festival and even Buggy Days affords the community is worth it. And to the person that stated why it had to be held at Easter, Easter was late this year and the Blues Festival is held every year around the same weekend. The weekend was wonderful for the Blues Festival and well as celebrating the Risen King.

I guess you have not heard about the Hartsfield Airport Annex coming to Lamar County, if this little noise bothers you.

For the BB&B planners, here's a little help for you. Easter is scheduled YEARS in advance. Go to the website to see when it will be next year and for about the next 30+ years. Hope this helps out.

I'm tired of explaining the Easter scheduling conflict, so now I'm just going to say, we don’t care! There were more people at the concert than last year, as well as more beer sold than last year, so obviously most people didn't have a problem with it. If you don't want to come next time it falls on Easter, then don't come. I'm giving you a 5 year notice in advance. The event is always on the 4th weekend of April; just like buggy days is the 3rd weekend in September.

I didn't ask you to explain anything. From earlier posts, it seemed as if the organizers of this event were using the excuse that the festival was planned before Easter was set. As just an outside observer, I was just offering up a little help in maybe avoiding the headache of having people complain about it in the future. I obviously hit a nerve and/or embarrassed you in showing that Easter is set for years to come. I DON'T CARE. I didn't go nor will I ever go. You could hold it in my backyard and I'd make myself scarce.

The point that I have tried to make time and time again is that FBA only gives us certain weekends to have the event and this was the weekend we picked. We picked this weekend because it only falls on Easter every 5 years or so. I didn't mean to point the finger at you in particular; I'm just tired of explaining this. We know when Easter is and we are fine with the event falling on it every 5 years. To have a great event it needs to be the same time every year so people don't get confused.

Question: Why don't the organizers of BBQ+Blues set up a tent and tables/chairs in the "food court" like at Buggy Days? Not complaining, suggesting. I know lots of folks bring their own chairs for the shows, but others just come for the food, and it gets kind of hard to eat that good and messy stuff when standing up.

Saturday night's top shows were E.G. Knight, Guitar Watkins, the awards and Contagious. I can't say much about the others except maybe mediocre at best. However, I was thankful to have brought alone my sun glasses because the glare from one of the picker's balding head was blinding. I guess that's why he wore his own.

By the looks of E.G. Kights opening band website, Mystery Road, there far from mediocre. I guess we can see K.T. as the opening headliner next year...sunglasses and all!

I hate whiners. The glass is ALWAYS half empty with some people. You just can't please them.
You can please some of the people some of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can never please all the people all the time.
