Here are the results of our previous poll which asked, "Do you think tightened enrollment standards at Gordon College will cut the crime rate in Barnesville-Lamar County?".

If you think this poll is at all useful or an accurate reflection of anything, you must be a republican. Some of that Fox News logic.
I would say you could benefit from a course in statistics but Im not so sure.
This poll is about as useful as asking people whats their favorite color and then using it in an argument to prove that blue is better than green.
BUT if you flip that coin............Gordon may get additional students who have have otherwise avoided their school because of the low standards.
If they do not do something positive soon, as the percentage of "just getting by" mentality grows, the serious students will diminish. It will eventually get to the point that parents will simply refuse to place the children they love in a school of insignificant education. Education is expensive....why would one place their child in an establishment that does not prepare their children for the future?
A rotten apple has never improved the quality of the others in the barrel.
What is the point of even conducting these polls? They don't do anything but create or reinforce community discord. All this proves is that 62.11% of 3% of all Lamar County citizens agrees with this statement of opinion. Heck, maybe not even that many... I just voted 'yes' AND 'no' on your latest fear-mongering poll.
BUT all people are not sorry like you. Why do you think polls are so important around election time? Why do you think eating establishments conduct polls before they decide to invest in operations in various locations?
It helps to guarantee success in operations. This works because THANK GOD there are still more decent, positive thinking people in America than jerks such as yourself.

I think GC is a beautiful facility. I wish the college was a bit more involved in our community, though.
The plays, for one thing, could be advertised so the community could come see them. And that might mean more than some posters stuck on windows.
How about a student submitting articles to the local newspaper and/or this blog, to bring the rest of us into the life of a local college student? This could foster a feeling of "us" rather than "them vs. us".

I go to the colledge and it fine. All the student not bad as peoples say. This town be having the bad people as well as the colledge. Grow up and stop blaming us for your crimes.
Really Ms. Tolley? You can't see a "troll" and a "trolling" comment? The person who wrote this only to get a reaction from people who take imbecilic polls such as this.
IT doesnt matter, you can make it harder to get in but it doesnt change anything some on the most brilliant kids go there and end up on drugs its called college !!!! but the kids who exspierence drugs during high school end up leaving drugs alone before college and the ones who do not try drugs during high school end up doing them in college . You can start fixing the problem by cleaning up the town first...
I have a team of dogs in the fight. I am not required to be living full time in Lamar County to be a resident. My taxes will most likely cover yours a few times.
So what percentage of crimes are committed by Gordon students annually? I'm glad that standards are tightening, but it would be good to go beyond everyone's impressions. If that information is available, it would be really useful in reporting what Gordon's effects are on the community.
Good idea. It would most likely be understated a little since we still could not capture the data of the friends of college students who "came to the party."
I don't believe the tightening of the admission requirements will have much affect on crime rates. Essentially, they have gone from letting anyone in to ALMOST anyone. Have those out there who believe it WILL cut down on crime looked at how easy it is to STILL get in? Instead of accepting students who need 3 or more remedial classes it's now 2 or less. You can have a horrible SAT score and have only a LOW C average out of high school and STILL get into Gordon College. Having a low C average out of high school? It doesn't get any easier after high school, that's for sure. While easier said than done, until Gordon really begins to tighten admission requirements and attract more academically oriented students, it will still draw in the same "riff raff" as before.

You are the one that makes absolutely no sense - common or otherwise.
Of course raising the standards would keep all of the thug students out. Gordon would lose out on a lot of money though if/when they did this.
