Benefest to Aid Tornado Victims

With the intention of building more financial support for the victims of this spring’s tornado disaster in Lamar County, a Benefest will be held from noon to midnight on Saturday, June 25th at the Lamar County Schools Fine Arts Center. The FAC is located at 126 Burnette Road in Barnesville.

An actual "benefit" would the removal of the brush from the county right of way that we placed there.

It is an extreme fire hazard.

Between FEMA and the idiots at the Forestry Commission and our always useless county types, actual help is hard to find.

Thanks to the churches and other Christian ministries for their genuine hands on assistance. Christ's love on full display.

I guess some people just can't be pleased no matter what, how much or how little, you do for them.

You post under a Christian guise yet your bitterness if far from Christ-like.

Do you think Jesus posted in the Jerusalem Journal when things didn't go his way?

Yes we have alot to be thankful for especially very thankful that the volunteers from other states came in to help.

A "benefit" concert provides little actual help to the storm victims. It is a feel good event only.

Go to one of the disaster sites, get out of the air conditioned car, sweat and get dirty actually doing something worthwhile. That will do more that any "song and dance" routine to help those in need.

If this sounds "bitter", so be it. My gratitude is reserved for those who actually helped me recover.

I am sorry you feel this way. The goal of the concert is to raise $10,000+ to go directly to the victims of this devastating tornado. I believe, wholeheartedly, this will happen. I nor any of the other volunteers involved are making a dime off of this and believe you me it is quite a task to put it on. You're right about one thing, it is a "feel good event". I feel good about being a part of it. The people performing and volunteering will feel good about doing it. And the people who come out and donate to the cause will feel good about doing so. If you don't want the help we are attempting to provide, post your name and let me know and I will personally see what else we might do to help you. Thanks and God bless!

We took a hard hit, I think all in all the county did a good job concidering. The volunteers were wounderful. I hate that it happened but I would not wish it on any one else, as I do not look for anyone else to have a miracle cure, but the love and support you have shown and continue to show is very much appreciated and sure helps us continue on in a positive manner, Thank you...
