PRESS RELEASE
Debris Removal Plans
June 10, 2011
Lamar County has contracted to have the tornado debris removed from the right of way of County roads. The contractor has completed a first pass on many roads and next week (June 13-17) we expect them to be working on Van Buren and Harmony Hill Ranch Roads. That will complete our first pass so the following week (June 20-24) we expect them to start a second pass on Brook and Crawford Roads.

Why couldn't the county remove this debris? It's been almost 2 months now. Why do we have to hire a contractor when we have the equipment to do it ourselves?

FEMA... Just sayin, when the government gets involved, progress stopped because of the dollar amount they are throwing to Lamar county. Follow their rules or we wont send $$$. Interesting thing is, before FEMA stepped in, we had this place in working order.

If the Federal Govt had just given Lamar County the $$$$ they spent in getting FEMA people here and putting them up, we would have been better off. Lamar County would have had all the debris cleaned up in another week to ten days. The county workers did an excellent job while they were in control. FEMA stopped their work within 30 minutes of arriving.

I feel the largest pile of debris is located in the Commissioners office during their executive sessions.

What is really funny is how Lamar county preaches to spend your money at home yet they contract with an out of towner to do the cleanup. just sayin
