‘There’s a hole in Daddy’s arm where all the money goes.’
-John Prine
John Prine penned his haunting lyric in the song ‘Sam Stone’, a lament about the Vietnam War. Sam came home from Vietnam haunted by what he saw there. He could not exorcise his demons and eventually died of an overdose. I think of Prine’s work three times a day when I plug antibiotics into the picc line in my arm to fight off a recurring staph infection.

good luck getting it under control...
I hope you feel better soon and as always thanks for once again putting things in my life in perspective. I broke my arm a week ago and have whined about it all day, guess I will not be whinning anymore! This family loves you and only wish you the best in life. Thanks again for all you have done for us and not letting people forget!!!
And I think you've put your illness, surgeries, and several attempts at recovery into fine perspective here on barnesville.com.
Whether you brighten someone's day, or frustrate someone by doing your job as a newsman, you're part of the fabric of this town, and either way, you've been missed.
Keep on keepin' on, Walter!
Keep in mind this is not all there is. There is complete healing "over on the other side" for you no matter what you go through here. Also for Sam Stone and even me!
God Bless you as you journey!
