let me see @@@@@@@@@ STOP paying a lawn care to cut grass at the water authority.let county employee's do it,dang my water bill was high this month. I am paying for lawn care also.
Better than that, let the inmates do it. Let them earn their room and board at the jail. The county has enough to do. They can't keep the grass cut on the main roads, how do you expect them to cut the grass at county facilities? I remember a few years back, they were consistent in keeping the grass cut. Don't use the excuse of the tornado. This has been going on way before that happened. It has to fall on management. Whoever oversees that this is getting done , is not doing their job. I have been cutting the grass for the county in front of my home. I think they call it the "right of way." If I didn't, you wouldn't be able to see my house from the road. I bet if you go down the roads the commissioners live on, it stays cut.
Across the board cuts are easy but almost always do the most damaged.
The better way to cut is to look at each dollar spent and determine if the service it provides is worth the dollar. It is hard work. Freedom ain't free has many meanings.
WOW all of you who say 10% cut are you going to pay my water bill or electric bill, yes I am a county employee It must be nice for you to say take it from someone else and not me well we are people and families also So before you say cut 10% think if you can afford that
I would get a second job. I have done that before to survive. You forget. We are paying your salary. A 10% cut across the board would be better than no 10% cut and county employees like you getting laid off or your job eliminated. Be thankful for what you have and not belly achin about what you don't. You can always look for a new job in another county if you are not happy here. My friend has been working in DeKalb county for 20 years and she is praying she can hang on til she retires in a few years. She has been cut back twice on her salary and furloughed, but she is just thankful she has a job. If you are worried about your utility bills, maybe you need to cut back on cable, drying clothes, internet, etc. Stop acting like a spoiled brat and man up.
The Sheriff could save money/gas by making the deputies drive their personal cars back and forth to work, instead of their patrol cars. Especially the ones who live out of county.
After the tornado came through and listening to the police scanner as sheriff deputies were responding straight from their homes, this is obviously why they take cars homes. They are on call 24/7, when something bad like that happens again it would be discouraging to think they would have to make it to their office before being able to help anyone. Police agencies around the nation take their cars home for a reason; it's a proven method that ends up working out for everyone. Those cars are no more than a "company vehicle" that the workers have, to respond when needed.
Deputies are on duty when they come out of their house and get into the patrol cars. Living out of the county is a different question. Those deputies should be forced to drive their own cars to and from work.

No one wants more taxes, and there is nothing wrong with looking over the budget and calling the county commisioners.
