Congratulations on your promotion. You deserve it and I know the Sheriff's office is proud to have a hard-working employee such as yourself.

Does she get a raise with her promotion? Not knocking her, I am sure she deserves it...just like MANY other county employees that are currently on a hiring freeze and worried about their jobs. Way to go, Sheriff. Way to rub it in everyone's faces that you don't care about the budget crisis. But anyhow...CONGRATS to Captain Baines-Holmes!

Someone does a good job, and their boss chooses to recognize their hard work and accomplishments publicly, and all you can see is some warped chance to make a political statement? You are a grade-A TURD!

Way to go Leslie! You do your job in a professional, conscientious way, and you deserve the promotion... and the raise (if there is one). Keep up the good work.

I don't see our county budget crisis as a political statement.

It's not about subject matter. It's about picking your time and place. If you have a comment about the budget, then make it in response to an article that is at least peripherally about the budget. Don't be-smudge one of the rare instances someone in this community comes under a positive spotlight. This article didn't have a ting to do with the county budget issue until you started grand-standing. So, I stand by my original assessment: T-U-R-D!

Well, since this is an open forum and I can voice my opinion as I see fit and so can you, then I suppose I can talk all I want about the sheriff's lack of concern for the state that our county is in financially. And you can keep calling me a turd. I do, however, believe that if you don't think the sheriff's department is a county budget concern then your head is definitely in a place where you should be able to recognize turds.

Oh it's definitely about politics. But not about government budget. It's about getting the vote. Either Waller is planning on running again and feels the need for a token to get the vote or he is grooming her to take White's place when he runs for office next election. Again to get the vote.

Brad White is no run for sheriff. Joe Buice run for Sheriff in 2012. Charge back. New uniforms. We had 4 democrats sheriff candidates and No republican sheriff candidates.

Congratulations are in order for Captain Leslie Baines-Holmes. Would someone please look into how the paper work on an arrest goes missing and charges get dropped at the department?
