I THINK THERE IS MORE TO THE ARREST THAN MEETS THE EYES.
COULD THIS POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN A SETUP?
A MAN OR WOMAN HAS THE RIGHTS TO PROTECT THEIR FAMILY, REGARDLESS, ESPECIALLY ONE WHO PROVIDES FOR HIS FAMILY AND PAYS TAXES, HAS PAID HIS DUES TO SOCIETY.
His father used to be some type of law enforcement here in Lamar Co. (not sure where). After Buice left he may not be here any more, so that may have something to do with it.
The glock belong to his wife. You obviously didn't get the info on who the gun was registered to.

Ok, I understand that he was a convicted felon but he also "was" protecting his property... so just b/c he has been in trouble with the law means he no longer has the right to protect himself & his own property???? I see both sides of the law here. I also guess that he must have been in trouble in Lamar county if deputies "recognized" him as a felon... but in this case he wasn't doing anything wrong! So just b/c someone has a criminal past means they don't have the right to protect their property????
A convicted felon loses certain rights, and that's the way it should be.
So, if he has a gun, or a gun is anywhere near him, he has broken his probation or parole or whatever.
No sympathy here, he knew what his probation conditions were.
Gosh, the criminal element is really stupid.
he is not on probation get your fact right before you say something you no nothing about!! His prior conviction was 17 years ago over a car accident that had nothing to do with any type crime.
AT THIS TIME THERE ARE ARREST CONVICTIONS THAT FALL UNDER "CONVICTED FELON" THAT SHOULD BE RE-REVIEWED BY LAW LEGISLATORS. AFTER 17 YRS, DUE TO AN ACCIDENT, THIS SHOULD OR COULD BE REDUCED TO A MISADEAMER CHARGE.
INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME, LAMAR COUNTY SHERIFF DEPT NEEDS TO FOCUS ON "CATCHING" THE REAL THIEFS, ROBBERS, RAPPIST AND MURDERERS, INSTEAD OF EXPLOITING THIS YOUNG MAN FOR A PAST VENDETTA NOT RELATED TO HIM DIRECTLY.
i have to disagree with you.we live in the good ole usa.think about all the people here and they get away with driving while drinkin no green cards.but i beat this man is working and paying taxes.and they have more rights than he does.read you;re local arrest page in the paper and see if even you done these crimes where would they send you.
next time a felon walks up to me with a gun i'll ask him what his intentions are. if it is just to protect himself it will be ok but if he says it is to rob me then i will get scared.
so did they catch the "robber"??? They didn't even mention that in the article. All the artice focused on was arresting a convicted felon with a gun... nevermind the man that was trying to rob a house!!!
well, he WAS violating the law. he just happened to get caught due to someone else trying to break the law. either way...he WAS violating the law. i mean, seriously. the law is the law...no matter what.
okay, for those of you who are defending the felon with weapons...this is just an example:
The man (Phillip Foster) who murdered the Milner guy...he was a convicted felon.

do you feel like he should have the right to bear arms? i think it is a fabulous law that convicted felons do not have that right. unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself. if someone has a history of violent felony arrests...chances are, they MAY do it again. DUH.
it is easy to get a gun even for a felon. it seems though Lamar County will get whom ever they see fit. My friend committed suicide in MY apartment on Spring cr. Lamar county charged my roommates and myself money to clean it up. It doesn't matter the nature of the call, Lamar gets whatever Lamar wants.
I would just like to say that I have the utmost respect for the Blackwell family. As a widow with a child, they have been a true blessing to my son and myself. And we couldn't have asked for better neighbors. Jason saw my child had a need, and stepped up, without being asked...and filled that need. It is an honor to share Steele Rd. with this family.
Lamar co. stated "Known Felon". Well if he knew he was a felon, I don't believe he would have went outside and fired off shots to run off the person attempting to break in his home and then admit to the officers he fired off a handgun, HUM!!!! GOOD QUESTION???
Do you think he called the police on himself???????
This blog should be about the criminal who attempted to break in their home.
I'm sure everyone on here thinks they know all the facts about this case, but I truly doubt it. Just a little info goes a long way when you need to "tell it like it is."

I hope I am misunderstanding your point.
