With a deficit of $142,000, Lamar County commissioners are advertising an $8 million 2012 budget that will include a one-mill hike in property taxes to cover decreases in the tax digest and an increase in exemptions. Hearings on the proposed tax increase began today.

We all need jobs. Right to work. We need a full time paid... paramedics, firefighters, construction, teachers, doctors and public works. Human rights. Right to work. Right to work. Right to work.
they only have 2 or 3 deputies working at a time to protect us and you wish to cut there jobs so that we have no one. if anything cut somewhere else and hire more depuites.
One less pack of cigarettes a month for 7 months would save him $35 to pay the taxes. If I was on the county commission, I would raise the taxes in order to stay out of the negative side of the budget. They need not to worry about the whiners and bloggers who threaten to vote them out of office. These people don't want the job and are all spreaders of BS and probably don't vote. My advice to Jay Matthews and the rest of the commissioners:
RAISE THE TAXES AND LET THE TEARS FLOW! NO REPERCUSSIONS FROM THESE WHINY DISTRACTORS. THEY ARE ALL BLOW AND NO SHOW. GO FOR IT!
People must establish and maintain priorities!

So get off your high horse, You Are On Welfare.
The Same Guvment that will try to take your house and savings if you end up in a nursing home.
The Same Guvment that is threatening to stop payment on your Social Security.
The Same Guvment that will take your home when you can't pay your taxes.
When it comes to the government, you can't take your business elsewhere. Once the government demands your money, you have to give it up. This is not the vision of America's Founding Fathers. Cigarettes, liquor, cars, deer hunting, are still choices we can make in a free nation. Taxes, regulations, and other government perpetrated miseries on its citizens are largely outside of our control as is evidenced by recent actions by the government.
I have an idea Marv. Why don't you volunteer to pay the government more money – for the good of society of course. That would be your choice. Wouldn't it?
Bobby Bobby Bobby...I really do get it! It is you who doesn't get it! NO WHERE did I say or imply it was MY business how my reckless neighbor spent his money. I don't care if he goes broke or starves if he chooses to waste his money. It is his choice not mine.
If you will review my comment, you will notice I often used the words WASTE or WASTEFUL. My point was, you obviously missed it, was that people make their choices to waste their money and I make my choices not to waste my fixed income of $1456 a month. Heck, a big time political WANNABE like you probably spends that much each month on cell phone bills calling and texting your big shot friends. Your expenses probably exceed my meager $1456 if restaurant tips are included when you whine and dine the politicos. That is your choice Bobby. I don't care. My priority isn't to waste money.
Bobby Bobby Bobby, I will cut and paste a portion of your psyco bizarre comments for your own edification and for other bloggers to obtain a grasp of your lack of thought.
"People like you though, wish to take money away from others and spend it on your choice of programs. Your choice gives your neighbor no choice. You advocate taking money from local citizens – by gunpoint if necessary and spending simply because you think it's right."
Bobby, read your pitiful commentary again! How does your blathering apply to ONE single word that I penned? Where do I write that I want to take money away from others? Where do I not give my neighbor no choice? Is it because I don't waste my money? Where did I write that I wanted to rob citizens? Where did I condone wild spending? tch...tch...
Bobby Bobby Bobby, I am now convinced you were not drunk, not smoking pot, or missed your daily meds. I will put it succinctly and spell it out correctly so there won't be any misunderstanding. Bobby Heiney, you exhibit PLAIN Ol' STUPIDITY along with an inflated ego. It appears you may have revived some old talking points from one of your worn out tired rally speeches where you try to fire up a few Tea Party folks or some disinterested Libertarian lookey loos. Your rhetoric may work on the few people who show up to hear you rail against government, BUT, it does not play with this old Senior Citizen who doesn't get a cent for a 1966 Viet Nam injury. I don't whine. I pay my fair share. I have a shiny purple medal that is as big as the scarred bullet hole in my leg. My little grandson thinks it is real "purty". Want to see it Bobby?
Bobby Bobby Bobby, I'm asking you to think about your vile and hate filled words directed toward me so it will help you realize the destructive path you chose in your unprovoked attack upon me. I'm really concerned for you and hope you are not coming unhinged.
In the mean time, I will leave you these heart felt parting words of guidance to assist you down your lonely dark path while you seek inner peace and reflective atonement:
BOBBY BOBBY BOBBY, KISS the HEINEY HEINEY HEINEY of this 70 year old! muwah!

To answer your question: Yes, My Lai Bill , the little buggers in black pajamas shot back and kept on shooting until a lot in our camp were dead and the VC run out of ammo. The NVA and VC were fearless fighters. The US is lucky to have suffered only 58,000 killed and 40,000 wounded because our country never tried to win that war.
You should've been there. You could've killed a few too. If you were old enough, you probably were a bearded sandal wearing hippie draft dodging student or 4F druggie.

If you are so dissatisfied with the way Jay Matthews and the rest of the Lamar County commissioners guide the direction of this county, WHY DON'T YOU ANNOUNCE YOUR CANDIDACY IN THE NEXT ELECTION WHERE THE ""NUMEROUS" CONSTITUTION PARTY MEMBERS CAN CAST BLOC VOTES FOR YOU TO ENSURE YOU ARE VOTED INTO OFFICE? You seem to have a lot of ideas the way things ought to be run in Lamar County and in Washington, DC. Why don't you spend less time blogging and more time running for office if you want to change things? I won't vote for you, but, maybe a few voters subscribe to your ideas and will vote you into office. Crackpot Jesse Ventura got in.
|||**Vote Heiney-Weiner**|||...hmmm..maybe it is better if Weiner was on top.... |||**Vote Weiner-Heiney**||| Mr. Heiney, you may pull it off unless you are premature.
You must act quickly and decide which offices y'all plan on occupying so we can get a grass roots movement started in order to build a voting base consisting of displaced Tea Party folks, disappointed Obama Democrats, a dozen or so Constitution Party members, 2 or 3 Greeners and few Socialists. I don't believe we can convince any Republicans to come over to our side. Think about it! Great day for Lamar County!
You write:"WHY DON'T YOU ANNOUNCE YOUR CANDIDACY IN THE NEXT ELECTION WHERE THE ""NUMEROUS" CONSTITUTION PARTY MEMBERS CAN CAST BLOC VOTES FOR YOU TO ENSURE YOU ARE VOTED INTO OFFICE".
As you might know, the only parties on the ballot in GA are the Republicrats and the Demuplicans. GA has the worst ballot access laws in the US. This keeps others off the ballot.
The Republicrats and Demuplicans have done such a great job this past 150 years, haven't they Veronica?
Hmmm ... let's see. $115 trillion in unfunded liabilities at the federal level. The dollar worth, what, 5 cents vs the early 1900's? More than half the nation on some sort of government hand-out. US military in 130 or so countries around the world.
The US is basically bankrupt and Republicans are about to broker a deal to spend even more money. Great job!
Recently reported: something like 80% of the laws on the books are considered unconstitutional by constitutional scholars, meaning our rights our violated with impunity.
Go read the Constitution Party platform. And unless you love the idea of a bankrupt country and a police state to rule it, I suggest you look elsewhere for solutions to the nation's problems.
But judging from your comments, you want more of the same old tired spendocrats and taxocrats and regulatorycrats to rule you.
God bless!
"Recently reported: something like 80% of the laws on the books are considered unconstitutional by constitutional scholars, meaning our rights our violated with impunity."
Mr. Heiney, I want to remind you that our very fine president, Barack Obama, is a Constitutional Law scholar himself. I'm sure if 80% of our laws were unconstitutional, Mr. Obama would see things right. It is the obstructionist Republicans who say NO! NO! NO! to every decent proposal Obama makes. You never see Obama bawling and wiping tears on tv like that John Boehner. President Obama needs more time to straighten out the economy and bring our troops home. After 8 years of GW Bush and his fat cat friends, Mr. Obama needs 4 more years in office in order to bring our country back onto the road to prosperity and to elevate our standing as the main leader in the world.
If you would jump in and support Obama instead of lobbing self-serving partisan talking points against him and our two major political parties, this country will better prosper. Small political parties snapping at the heels of our mainstream political leaders will never win public office. David Duke is the exception.
According to my father, the main plank of the 1948 Dixicrat platform on State's Rights was similar to your Constitutional Party ideas on State's Rights. Why don't you come into the arena of 2 party politics and make changes within one of them instead of lurking behind a fringe party akin to the Militia Movement? The Militia Movement ideology also spouts anti-government rhetoric with conspiracy-oriented themes.
I hope your political persuasions don't include hoarding large stashes of weapons, ammunition and survival gear in underground bunkers. Not in Lamar County!
Mr. Heiney, for me, I prefer to be a middle aged lady who doesn't waver in love of my country and who supports our president and our local elected officials.
God Bless you too.
NO NEW TAXES!!!
NO NEW AXES!!!
I know, I know, all you tough folks are going to respond and comment that you would shoot the thugs. Uh huh...I know...it won't happen! You will moan n' groan and then pay your tax increase and vote the same people back into office. Want to bet the commisioners don't have any serious opposition come the next election? Of course you don't. I will gladly pay any tax increase and will continue to appreciate living in Lamar County. If anyone thinks a small increase is wrong, feel free to move to another county where taxes are much higher.
I know a couple of good counties who would welcome all you folks who whine about the police, bad schools, crooked elected officials, high taxes, poor fire service, and bad roads. Y'all can move at anytime. How about FULTON COUNTY....wait...wait..wait..how about CLAYTON COUNTY? Didn't think so crybaby jackwagons. Lamar look good now?
And Marv, your comment about the mans wife was uncalled for. That would earn you an ass whooping in public. And you really paint the ideal picture of giving to the church with comments like that.
"My mom lives in Lamar County and is on social security. Any idiot knows that fixed income people cannot keep dishing it out when nothing is coming in.
Does your mom fit the same bill as Marv described in his comment about his whiny neighbor? Does your mom smoke, play bingo, scratch lottery tickets, play Mega millions, Fantasy Five, Daily 3 or guzzle beer? Does she spend her fixed to support your butt and a bunch of grandkids? Is that where her money is spent? If she doesn't do any of the above things, she should follow old Marv's advice and tighten her house duster belt and purse strings. Why are you so sensitive? Do you help her out financially? Probably not. Mom probably makes as much money as old fixed income Marv and his wife. She probably doesn't know how to handle her money and apparently you don't help. Mom doesn't have an income problem, she has a spending problem. Why not help her out?
As far as what old veteran Marv said about the cavorting unemployed wife, I kinda agree with him. The wife wastes too much time "looking" for a job spending gas and food money in the process. As far as you offering Marv an ass whooping in public for his comment about the wayward wife, you seem to be the only person harboring anger toward him. Is it possible in addition to your comments offered about your mother, you are really ticked off because Marv struck a nerve and commented about YOUR WIFE?
Don't come back and threaten me Observer, just straighten things out for us.
Pot Of Spaghetti?...you don't make sense Observer. I'm sorry you are feeling sick.
FYI: I was just at Dr. Buice's office and he has an opening this afternoon. Hurry up and call! Oh, one other thing. If you put a roof over mom's head, she should have a lot of bucks saved up since she doesn't smoke, drink, play the lottery, etc. Hope so.
Huh? Observer, is that a question or a poorly punctuated statement beginning with a conjunction? Are we to play a game of cards? Are you going to start the deal? You voted for Nathan Deal? You have drugs to deal? Are you a used car salesman and have a clunker to deal? Are we going on tv and "Let's Make A Deal"? You want to sell your copy of Donald Trump's book, The Art Of The Deal? Do you have some crayon scribblings to deal as a folk art dealer?....I could go on and on. Get the deal?
Old Veteran Marv wondered why you used William Calley as a fake name. I don't wonder myself because you probably think that murderer Calley got a "bum deal" at his court martial. Wasn't the presiding JAG officer, Col. Eidont Deal? I'm not familiar with William Pierce, but, I believe there was a failed Georgia politician around during Revolutionary War times who made a lot of "bad deals" and failed in every "deal" he made. Mr. Calley Pierce Observer, you surely admire some real wheeler dealers.
BTW: Give my regards to your mom.
What do you think? Herman Gain first black republican? Michele Bachmann or Sarah Palin first female?
