A veteran Clayton Co. deputy shot and killed during a traffic stop today lived here in Pike. He has been identified as Ricky Daly, 55, of Wrightsburg Way in Zebulon. Daly once worked at the Pike Co. sheriff's office.

His son is a lieutenant with the Fayette Co. sheriff's office.

UPDATE: The suspect in the shooting, 17-year-old Jonathan Bun, was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. His mother was also picked up.

Well Barnesville, this is just the sort of rider that rapid rail will bring to town should it come about.

Remember the mass in mass transit allows garbage like this access to YOU and YOUR loved ones.

What a crock of #$%^. When was the last time you saw someone with somebody else's flat screen TV on MARTA. With gas prices approaching $4 a Gal. and sure to be $5 next year, rapid rail should have already been a reality. We have only ourselves to blame for this energy situation we're in.

what do you think marta carries all over the atlanta metro area?crooks and little wanna be punks,thats what!!bring rapid rail and you watch the garbage come with it.just look at how fast the crime went up at lenox mall when marta started hauling the south side trash there!!crime went through the roof!!the only reason anybody wants rail in barnesville is so they can have someone carry their fat brood mare as@'s and all there kids from 10 different fathers to atlanta so the can find their next baby's daddy

Are you Serious? I was born and raised in Barnesville and now I live in Metro Atlanta. There is just as much "garbage" in Lamar County as anywhere else. If their was mass transit from Barnesville to Atlanta maybe people could work where the jobs are and still live in Lamar County and spend money there to help small business and increase the tax base. I love Lamar County but its just not worth the two hour drive.

My condolences to the family of Dept. Daly. I'm so sorry.
As for the 17 year old murderer, what on Earth is wrong in this fellow's life that made him into such a waste of elements?

I agree with you so much cat....he was so young to be livng such a life. I pray that the deputy's family makes peace with all of this. What a waste of two lives.

Why would anyone take a tragedy like a veteran police officer being shot and killed while serving the public to slam Rapid Rail? I think that the people in Atlanta should be more worried about #2 Anonymous riding rapid rail to their neighborhoods in Atlanta, “cause you can’t fix STUPID”!

To all the people arguing about rapid rail and energy. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. A man lost his life today, a family lost their son, husband, father, grandfather, brother. You people are a disgrace. To the ones with kind words to say about Ricky. I know the family and friends appreciate it.

Cuz me sunshine, but who left you in charge?

Nobody needs go anywhere. We are commenting on the getto trash that killed the officer and the need to keep it out of this area.

Mass transit will give this trash the mobility it doesn't otherwise have and they will kill someone a lot closer to you.
