One dead, six hurt in I-75 crash

One man was killed and six others were injured when an SUV crashed on I-75 in Monroe County near the Lamar line after a blowout.

Additionally, Barnesville police are working an accident late Sunday afternoon at the ever dangerous intersection of highways 18 and 41 in Barnesville near Ingles.

I was in the Southbound lane and saw it happen across the barrier. It was a terrible site to see that SUV flying into the air and rolling over and over...I thought I had fallen asleep and dreamed it for a split second. I was unable to get back to the crash due to traffic and the miles I had to travel before there was a break in the median barrier. While the SUV was smashed up really bad, it was not crushed...I would have thought that from my experience as a Trauma ICU nurse, from what I saw, if all were wearing seat belts, there may had not been fatalities. I was sorry to see this report. I pray for all involved.

I was one of the many people stuck on the interstate. I was about a half mile behind the accident. I watched the helicopter fly in and out. When traffic finally started moving again and I drove by the accident I saw the black SUV and they were putting floats back in the SUV...To me that means that there were kids in the car..It breaks my heart. My prayers are with all involved in the accident and their friends and families.

Yet the state is all ready to pay for an overpass over the railroad in Griffin for Hwy 16.

How many lives would an over/underpass save at the 18 intersection?

Actually, in all reality. That intersection is only dangerous do to idiots not paying attention. This in no 4 way stop anymore and there is really no reason for people to have so many accidents there if they are paying attention to the rules of the intersection and the others around them as they should be doing. While recently sitting at that light behind a motorcycle, my children watched in horror as this idiot made that left turn against the left turn signal. People really need to pay attention at any intersection as well as any time while driving. Don't force another person to witness your stupidity or death.

No help... Butts County fire department and Monroe County fire department. Need a full time paid firefighter with the firehouse. Lamar County fire department needs.

I actually knew the people involved in the accident. It is truly a tragedy. Please pray for them during this time of crisis.

I was there and my husband and I offered assistance to all involved. The little boy kept asking for his dad and the wife ask me for her husband who I could see dead on the ground but could not tell her because she was in bad shape. I tried to keep her clam until help arrived and gathered all the purses and put them by the lady is the front passenger seat. My husband helped get her out of the SUV and the daughter. It was really hard seeing them but I was glad I could help. Years ago I was in a rollover accident and never got to thank those who came to my rescue. I was able to thank them on Sunday by helping this family. Let them know they are in our prayers. We would like to see them again and attend the funeral if possible.

My family and I saw the accident we were traveling south on 75 and It was terrible. I don't know what happened and it doesn't matter someone lost their life and families are hurting my heart goes out to all.

This was a very sad and tragic event. My wife and I were driving a U-Haul on our move to NC when this happened. Being as how I spent 4 years as a paramedic,and my wife spent years working in a hospital, we did the best that we could to help and comfort the family. Please send our prayers to them.

The people involved are my family. I would like to thank all the various people that helped them at the time of this accident. They are all doing better and getting stronger. Thanks also for your prayers, kind words, and support.
