Lamar County's 2009 citizen superlatives were named tonight at the 26th annual Community Awards Banquet sponsored by the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.

we congratulate each community award winner. one thing is evident, they don't whine when times get tough. instead, they hunker down and work harder. all the winners - ben and doris, danny, missy, bryan, mark, chris, phillip and gael - know the value of honest work and community service.
it's a privilege for those of us at the herald-gazette to live, work and raise our families here.
"Privilege". WOW!
The meaning and scope of that word seemingly has been sullied in this day and time to be equated as profanity.
