Attorney general to keynote meth summit

Sheriff Larry Waller has announced that Georgia attorney general Thurbert Baker will keynote a meth summit to be held in Lamar County on June 2, 2009 at the Middle School Auditorium. The summit was prompted by a series of stories on the local meth problem in The Herald-Gazette.

Maybe the Attorney General and the Brought Back sheriff could stop by the corner of Railroad and Mill Street to discuss the Controlled Substance Club meeting there?

They certainly don't seem to have any trouble making sales to passerby.

But politicians like to be seen talking. The more people to listen, the better.

What does Thurbert Baker know about meth use. I don't think there is much meth use in his office. I don't think that any of his office staff have ever prosecuted a meth case. Thurbert Baker especially doesn't know what is going on in Lamar County. The summit should be given by REAL COPS who know the REAL PROBLEMS, not someone from a Ivory Tower sitting behind a magnificant oak desk.

Thank you Milner AND the other majority of Lamar county who voted for Sheriff Waller. Sheriff Waller has only been back in office for months and has already put a huge dent in Lamar county’s drug community. I always love to see a meth head (as well as any other drug dealer/abuser)go to jail. It is also good to see the restored cooperation between Lamar county and other agency’s.Lamar county and Barnesville did a great job in working together to catch the bank robber the other day.WELCOME BACK SHERIFF WALLER!!

dear krackerhead.
be nice. remember half the people didnt want bring back brung back so it will take them a while to figure out if this is the old brung back or a new bring back. thats just going to take time. no point trying to cram the 90 vote majority down everyones throats. in six months or a year everyone will have a chance to see on their own if things are run any different than 4 years ago.

Observer - Have you considered asking your doctor about some medication, maybe prozac or something of that nature might help you. If you are still promoting Buice, you really do need some help.

it is good work you did on this web site. instead of story after story about a stupid school changing name you concentrated on a worthwhile topic and look at what happened. the community is a better place when we focus on what is important instead of school names and stuff. congratulations for the good work.

Anyone know who owns the property behind the gas station on mill street? I am sick of looking at all of those jobless pieces of crap hanging out under that tree drinking all day, selling drugs and gambling. They are there when I go to work and still there when I pass by on my way home. I know the police run them off all the time but it doesn't seem to do any good. Maybe the property owner should be held accountable????

Every county in this United States has a Nuisance abatement.So why not petition the Authorities. The taxpayers and citizens of Lamar county have that right.That property can be confiscated by the city/county and used for the greater good of the area...Just a thought.

the only thing bothering one property owner does is move it to another place. some of the people from the gas station hang around market street in the alley once in a while.
