The local democrats in the Aug 9 edition of The Herald Gazette accused Republicans of everything except having good common sense. If that were true the Republicans wouldn’t have won a landslide congressional victory in 2010.

If you are Tea Party, you are a terrorist. Sarah Palin is a mouthpiece for the Tea Party which represents nothing but hatred and dissension. Her rhetoric and violence-inciting imagery IS a form of terrorism and a prime example. She held Jared Lee Loughner’s hand while he murdered people with his misguided sensibilities. We are quickly approaching 9/11... the tenth anniversary of a real terrorist attack. We Tea Partiers only want Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government and Free Markets. That's not too much to ask, is it?

You don't like Sarah Palin I suspect. That's ok. But look around you. Neighbors who will agree with limiting the spending in government, limiting its relentless drive for power over all the people, farms, businesses, including our hard earned dollars... those neighbors are all over this county, all over this country.

Tea Party is much bigger than Sarah. I like her. You don't. That's fair... but you need to figure out that we are standing up for your freedom too, so you can spew liberal rhetoric all over this page.

Shame on you sir. You should be helping us.

You are obviously misguided to even begin to think the so called TEA Party is terroristic. Actually the TEA Party represents “fed up” which is a far cry from hatred and dissension. Those aligning with the TEA Party have in the past sat and watched the democratic liberal left destroy a great country and watched the conservative Republican Party falter and let them do it. The TEA Party is Americans taking back America in its infancy. The TEA Party is for making Americans responsible without dependency on the government. The TEA Party is for founding father principals and realigning with our United States Constitution. You might think that when Patrick Henry used the words “Give me Liberty, or Give me Death that he too was entering into a realm of terrorism. If I consider your words in your post, I would easily be able to make that assumption. You labeling Sarah Palin a terrorist is nothing but ludicrous. If anything, she could be more closely associated with a Patriot. She is the center and the organizational development of what a huge number of Americans has been feeling for a long time and didn’t know how to express it. She is what this country has needed: A shot in the arm of patriotism. You and many other Democrats and Republicans fear her. Remember; one of the greatest documents of the United States has 56 signatures of people that were also once “fed-up” and that document is better known as The Declaration of Independence.

Sarah Palin may not control the movement but she stepped up to “LEAD” to get it started in the right direction and attracted many followers that felt the same. They screwed up just as the Democrats of 2008 did........so they invented a scapegoat called Coke Classic. They brought back the former recipe which had worked for 100 years and gave it a new name.

So, just toss obama into the trash bin labeled "Yesterdays Garbage" and move on.

Political genius, you are Billy Bob. Who controlled 2/3 of the governing body of this country when Bush was president? I am a Republican who thinks Bush made many mistakes, some that cost us dearly. However, the democrats "controlled" the government for much of his time in office. Credit and blame have to be given where it is due. The government as a whole has screwed up for a long time now. Any party who blames everything on the other side, or takes credit for all of the good is mis-guided. Most of you are just regurgitaing what you hear from others. By the way, I didn't finish "higher education" either, and I've somehow made it on my own. Cable t.v. and other recreation is not necessary. Also, I can't believe anyone thinks it's right to confiscate a persons property to give to someone else. Bring on the Fair Tax so everyone pays, even the "evil" rich.

The Republican party has elements that are as bad as the Democrats. As one post points out, the Republicans are known for corporate welfare and sweetheart deals for insiders, though I would argue that the Democrats are just as bad on that front too. Lets not forget that it was Republicans that gave us the so called "Patriot" act and many of the liberty destroying, homeland security and TSA apparatus, which are an affront to a free society. Both main parties are corrupt, at least on the national level. For me at least, Ron Paul is the best of the bunch when it comes to Republican presidential nominee candidates. Paul is a different type of Republican that respects the constitution, wants sound money, low taxes, small government, an end to the corrupt Federal Reserve, a winding down of the welfare state for both the lazy and big corporate lobbyists, and finally a sensible, non-interventionist foreign polity.

I think the way it is going nationally, the Republicans risk being split in two and the emergence of a truly independent third party that is a true conservative party. The tea party is not this third party because it has been co-opted by the Republican establishment. I foresee such a party being a sort of right-libertarian party that embodies many of the stances of Ron Paul. I for one have had it with mainline, mainstream, Republicans who are just as bad as Democrats most of the time.

On a local level it would be nice to have some small government, low tax, Republicans actually walking the walk instead of just talking the talk. Its bad enough having big government Democrats as a looming threat without Republicans betraying the people and joining their camp.

You stupid republicans: No two ways about it. It is wrong for someone to achieve so much and not share the wealth. Our welfare programs are in trouble because the wealthiest people don’t pay enough. They get the most and the government should allow them to keep some but then they should take the rest for us less fortunate. I didn’t have the same opportunities as lots of others. I had a car when I was 16 so I didn’t get to go to higher education. Like so many others I had to go to work to pay for gas and upkeep, insurance, and car payments so that I could get back and forth to work. I didn’t have a lot of time to study. Now some of my friends drive fancy cars and live in fancy homes and get to go on vacation trips, they have fancy toys like campers and boats too. I’m lucky I can eat and if it wasn’t for food coupons or the EBT card I’d have a hard time with that. Some of my friends get huge paychecks and can afford to live the life of Reilly and they could also afford to pay more tax in to help us that don’t have much. The government must consider me poor because last year I made so little that I didn’t have to pay any money into tax and the government even gave me a 3500.00 refund. The house I live in the rent cost so much each month that the government has to add an additional 650.00 to the 200.00 that actually comes out of my pay. But the government will only help me out with only about 40% of my utility bills. That means I have to pay 60% right out of my pocket. I was lucky and was able to drop my home phone but only because the government provided me with a cell phone. I don’t understand why I am forced to pay 100% of the cost of my cable TV and my internet though and if rich people were forced to pay their share maybe that would change. A trip to the doctor is almost an all day trip. I have to go to the emergency room to be seen because I can’t afford one of those fancy doctors’ office visits. At least a trip to the emergency room is paid for by the government but because it takes so long the government should provide us with a meal too. I’ve thought about going back to school and I discovered the government will help pay for it. But I’m forced to work almost 40 hours each week so I don’t know when I’d find the time. My TV programs are on in the evening and I also usually like to try and get in a quick nap after work. If I do get a better paying job it might affect some of my entitlements actually forcing me to actually make less money. So that is a dilemma that will have to be considered. It’s not easy being poor. At least the democrats understand what we go through and that why I vote for them. How can anyone support somebody that thinks I should have to pay an income tax on such a small income? If America wants responsible Americans they should look to the rich people to start taking on the responsibility of taking better care of us. Democrat 2012 – Obama 2012. The economy will get better when the rich pays in more to me so I will have more to spend to help the economy. Now do you see the problem you stupid republicans?

Did you mean that he is the president of "us" or did you mean "U.S." because if you meant "us" then you are wrong? Don't include me in the term "us". Regardless of the decision made by the incompetent voters that put him in office - I was not one of them. The ignorance was all related to a bunch of retarded finger pointers, pointing fingers at Bush who were too stupid to understand that congress was controlled by the liberal left wing democrats that put the country into a tail spin 2 years before a new president was elected. Of course he is the incumbent president and for some reason misery loves company and the liberal left doesn’t care about the country – they only care about the party. Hopefully the ignorant voters will stay home and logical voters will put competence in the highest office that will lead and take responsibility. Hopefully we will get a person that will start fixing problems instead of crying and pointing fingers at Obama. Four years of finger pointing has been enough. I can’t see how any single American can say that they are better off today than they were 3 years ago unless they are perhaps on the free entitlements crusade paid for by the taxpaying Americans that actually pay tax. there are plenty of new jobs ...they are not being counted, because they are being paid cash since they are here illegally....workers happy to get cash and no income tax and still get all benefits of being in usa....employers are happy because they pay less money.....government is the only loser...big companies hire more independent contractors so they dont have to give benefits.....state and federal government hire more parttime people so they dont have to give retirement....U S postal service also hires more parttime.......the tea party rants that they want smaller government, they when the government cuts thousands of jobs; the tea party cries because the unemployed numbers increase

The ones I am concerned about are the 50% here in america that pay no tax. They are usually the ones crying that the ones in the top tax bracket need to be burdened by higher taxes. They don't want their free ride to stop. It would be nice if the ones that didn't pay taxes were not allowed to vote. Wouldn't that make a difference in the elections.

Why do we have democrats?
1. Because some people can’t be responsible for themselves.
2. Because some people believe they deserve something that someone else earned.
3. Because some people believe government owes them a living.
4. Because some people are really stupid and easily brainwashed by people telling them that they are going to give them something for free if they keep electing them.
5. Because some people don’t understand what a republican is and lacks the mental ability to research it to acquire a better understanding.
6. Because some people just can’t live without someone else (government) telling them how to live.
7. Because basically anyone over the age of 18 can vote and someone told them how and who to vote for even if the voter has no idea who it is they vote for.
8. Because ignorance loves company!
9. Because some people want free entitlements that somebody else paid for.
Who do you cure the democrat illness?
1. Make people be responsible for themselves.
2. Take away the free entitlements after a period of time.
3. Make people pay their share of tax.
4. Stop giving income tax refunds to people that pay no tax.
5. Offer the unemployed jobs and if they turn them down – eliminate all their free entitlements.
6. Have classes on capitalism, free trade, corporate and capital gains tax, job creation, and government regulation.
