Oldies concert to benefit Milner Library

 A family night of 1950s and ‘60s music is planned for Sept. 30 in Milner, with proceeds going to Friends of the Milner Library.

It's good that the citizens of Milner are interested in bettering their community, but I do not understand their need for a new library. Since most of them travel to Barnesville or Griffin for groceries, gas, etc., they can use the library facilities in those places. What bothers me most is how a new library will be funded for operation once it is built. Do they expect to pull funds away from the already limited Barnesville library? Once the county takes over all the local funding on it, do the taxpayers want to fund another library in the county?
Milner is to be commended for its fundraising and possible grant for the building, but I'd like to see someone address the plans for covering the operating costs once it is built.

I am so in agreement, with the Pines card you can reserve books and other materials from other libraries in the system and have them delivered to the Griffin or Lamar library. The small library in Yatesville is struggling.

I'm so tired of hearing about the Milner Library. They have been trying to build this thing for many years. If it takes this long to build it, they aren't going to be able to keep it running long. Just go to the Barnesville Library like everyone else does.

That is a big building for both books. I feel that is like jousting with windmills, there are enough librarys around to accomodate the entire population of Milner.

Someone needs to open a gas station in Milner. 1941 is a LONG road from B'ville to Griffin with NO gas station nearby.

Are they serving beer? BENEFEST proved Lamar County won't support anything like this without alcohol.
