Do you plan on keeping your kid out past like 9? You do realize it starts at 5 and you can easily be done by 8. Or, your could keep your whiny kid at the house. Everyone else would probably appreciate that.
You spend a couple hundred dollars or more on candy and see how much candy you can afford to give.
For those of you that are concerned about the people on T-street spending so much money could always donate a bag or two to someone you know on the st. or mabey one of the older couple on a budget. I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated.
Halloween is just like government now.
OVER-REGULATED!
Trick or treat used to be fun for the kids. I guess it should be eliminated now. With everyone's attempt to make it politically correct... well those of you who remember it years ago will know what I mean.
Spending $100 is getting off light. Bet you haven't spent that much on candy Billy Bob. Let's see you set up a booth on T Street and give out candy to 800 kids for under $100. Then you can pass judgment, but not until then.
Wow, there's always got to be people wanting to complain. I'm glad that the churches are adding their events to Thomaston Street so the kids can stay in one area for their trick or treating. We always expect some residents to not participate as it has been that wat every since we moved here but we have never complained about those who do and we have handed out bags of candy to them while out trick or treating. I'm not sure why the burden of regulated trick or treating is in place but we simply have always gone with what we were told. This is the first place that I have ever lived at in my life where it is regulated. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on the why of all of it.
You must also not live on Thomaston Street were you can't even get home from work. Because it is now the only street in town to trick or treat on. I think it is very inconvient to the actual home owners to be stopped at barracades and told they should've made other arrangements for getting home. We live here you don't you should make arrangements for your children to trick or treat in your neighborhood not ours.
I just wonder why the recreation dept. is so political. If you say something, then you are the bad guy and your child suffers. It is all about who you know instead of what you know. They let coaches who yell and scream at the kids coach, and the coaches who actualy care about the kids go. It is a shame that the director and the commissioner continue to let these things happen.
my coaches yelled and screamed at me because they did care about me and didnt want me to be a wimp and a loser. Maybe we should give all the kids a trophy whether they win or lose, oh yea we already do that. remember if you aint first , youre last.
No one is luring anybody, if you take your child to a church, you brought them there! It's just an alternative for kids to be in a safe environment, instead of in the streets begging for candy, for God knows who! People are so backwards, but I bet you'll be there with your 3 kids trying to get some free candy!!!
Why trick or treat on Thomaston street, you hardly get any candy maybe 1-2 pieces per house... All of the candy is everywhere BUT Thomaston street.. Ride around to places like Aldora village, Maple street, Founders grove...etc. Less kids= more candy! :)
Wow, that is a bit hateful and selfish of someone not buying all of the candy given out on Thomaston Street. Just how much free candy do you thing you deserve?
Check your trick or treaters for wet concrete on their shoes when they get home. Dont look like the job is gonna be finished by time the trick or treaters get there.
Let's see Courtney. Take 2000 children and multiply that by 1-2 pieces of candy each and you will get 2000-4000 pieces of candy that has to be handed out. YES- please take your child or yourself to Aldora Village and Mill Street. Now I only have to have 3,998 pieces. Can you get some of your friends to go with you? Let me know. If there is one thing TStreet residents don't like, it is ungrateful brats like you.
Uh Anon...I don't think courtney was saying it like that. I think she was trying to ease the burden on T Street.
There are lots of neighborhoods that have folks ready for trick or treaters and don't get hardly any. I think T Street is great, y'all do a great job of decorating and making the kids welcome! We could hardly expect y'all to give out a handful of candy to every child.
We are happy just to walk around with our son and take pics of him with the nice folks who go through so much trouble to make it nice for the kids! Candy is on sale tomorrow anyhow, I can buy bags and bags then, tonight is for fun adn socializing!
This thread turned ugly, didn't it?
Come over to Redbud Drive, I have candy and love to see those smiling kids. They're polite and since mine are grown now, the treat is mine!
I did donate 2 bags of candy to the cause on Thomaston Street also. I think I've got my bases covered, thank you.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
No where in this story does it say that you can only treat or treat on Thomaston street. There are other parts of town that would be glad for you to stop and trick or treat. However people need to teach their children if lights are off that means the residents are not handing anything out. As far as the churches nobody is making anybody go to their events but with some of the attitudes on here it may just do some of you good to go.
Okay, When we moved here several years ago we were told that we could only go on Thomaston Street. Over the years, I have heard people mention going into other areas but have never asked where. So now I will ask so that we can have a little more fun out with the kids this year. Where are the other neighborhoods???
Cats, which section? We pass you on our way to town this year since the tornado relocated us.
THANK YOU to everyone on Thomaston Street and the awesome people over at the Nazarene Church for the wonderful experience. We are very grateful to have you making it a fun time for the kids. It was a pleasure to meet you Cats and your cat :) I think Kylie wants to come make friends with him.
We did not go down Thomaston St., but went down Greenwood St. and the Baptist and Nazarene Church. Thank you so much to everyone at the places that we visited. The Nazarene Church was really nice to do the festival and invite people inside for hot dogs and chili. The gentleman and his wife that were dressed as two old men were so generous and kind. My son and his cousin had a great time tonight and that is what Halloween is about. The laughter of the children!
A big crowd on Thomaston St. Seemed to be more small kids dressed in costume with parents taking them around and less teens in no costumes running around unsupervised!
