The Western Connector toll road, rejected on all fronts, still remains a viable option to officials in Paulding County - the only county where it has a shred of support.

That plan, to me, lacks logic. It so arbitrary in its route and I feel will not accomplish its objective. I see it as a feeding frenzy for developers and fast food companies. All these things change the demographics of the areas. These areas probably will not be able to sustain the tax increases the over development will create.
"OK...make people pay to drive farther...what dumba$$ came up with that idea?"
...as opposed to sitting for hours dealing with Atlanta traffic.
Drive on 285 and report back on the fun you have. THEN tell me how this is a "dumbass" idea.
Improved transportation means more industry will locate near it...
...sorry, I forgot for moment this place doesn't want jobs and growth. Obviously it IS a bad idea for a backwater determined to stay that way.
Remember, this is the place that fought AT&T locating a cell tower on at an abandoned cotton mill! "Would change the character of the place" was the reason given.
Look, if you want growth and urban sprawl...move. This was and hopefully will stay a nice quiet town to raise a family.
The purposed paths are almost twice the distance. While Atlanta traffic is bad at times, it is no where near the delay of having to drive twice as many miles. I have no problems negotiating Atlanta traffic, maybe you could buy a map and learn how to do it to? (instead of sitting in traffic complaining)
If you dislike this place so much, why do you live here?
you stated ..."sorry, I forgot for moment this place doesn't want jobs and growth. Obviously it IS a bad idea for a backwater determined to stay that way."
A toll road will do nothing but disrupt the lives of the people who live near it and those whose property would be taken for it.
The drivers using that toll road will not be leaving it until they reach I-75 .. please tell me how that is going to benefit the county.
You'll only rot if you sit still and do nothing. Instead of waiting for the guvment to bring jobs to you, try getting an education for the jobs that are already here.
I must confess that I am a CAVE dweller, a "Citizen Against Vitriolic Egoists." Your need to accept that your ideas for what's best for Lamar County, whether well-intentioned or not, are not shared by everyone and that they are not ignorant for not agreeing with your assessments. They are simply disagreeing, which is perfectly acceptable. Perhaps if you learn to express yourself without conceit and belittling others, people may be more amenable to listening to what you have to say. As a general rule, people don't really care what the message is if an ass delivers it.
"Your need to accept that your ideas for what's best for Lamar County, whether well-intentioned or not, are not shared by everyone and that they are not ignorant for not agreeing with your assessments."
Actually I don't "need" to accept anything. The reality is Barnesville/Lamar is in decline. When Aldora leaves another nail in the coffin will be driven home. The reality of the dismal area economic outlook and increasing competition for jobs is one YOU need to accept.
Now, get busy and vote YES for the SPLOST, the incompetent fools need your money!

What jobs would those be? Doffing looms at Aldora?
Yet again the CAVE dwellers here are massing to oppose any attempt to bring progress to the area.
But that's OK, vote YES on the next SPLOST!
