The Lamar County Trojans routed the Monticello Hurricanes 48-6 Friday night at Trojan Field. Lamar notched the first 10-win regular season in school history and claimed the Region 4AA crown. They will host Bleckley County November 11 in the first round of the state playoffs. Lamar beat Bleckley 27-21 in Cochran in the first game of the season.

Drenched in Powerade from a celebratory, postgame bath, Trojan head coach Jason Strickland told his team, "You have changed this community!".

Did they run the mercy clock like in the past when they were so far ahead at the beginning of 4th quarter?

Running clock at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Under GHSA mercy rule if a team up by 30 at the half, second half is played with running clock.

1st 10-0 undefeated season not 10 win season. The 1984 or 1985 team under Charley Brown finished 10-2 overall including playoffs.

this isn't the first undefeated season.2002 Trojans went 9-0,losing first round to albany.let's hope that doesn't happen.Trojans are playing Bleckley county first round of the playoffs,a very good football team.Yes,the Trojans beat them earlier this year,but I am worried about them considering they are better now,and the first game was a nail-biter.

In 2002 I believe the Trojans lost to Mary Persons on the first game of the season.

SMB is correct. The 2002 Trojans did go 9-0 in the regular season before losing to Albany in the first round of the state playoffs. Lamar did not play MP in 2002. The schedule only had nine games on it because of late reclassification and miscommunication between Lamar and Manchester on a date to play. Lamar was unable to find a replacement for the Manchester game.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc. There is a difference in being glad or proud that the team has worked towards a common goal and play as one on the field vs a group of people that walk with their pants down to their needs, sell dope, write gang stuff on property, rob, steal, kill, destroy, etc. You are correct. There are boy on this very same team that participate in this type of behavior. Its called CULTURE. Its what they grew up around, and what is deemed acceptable by their culture. Congrats to the team and the school system, but lock the thugs up when thugs do something wrong.

I will be one of those people IF they step away from a season of HARD WORK THAT EQUALED SUCCESS and walk into the thug lifestyle.

Vote "YES" on ESPLOST. We need more seats at Trojan Field as this is only the beginning of our success. As long as we keep Coach Strick here we will continue to improve and eventually win it all. Who knows? This could be the year! We need to keep Strick happy and keep him here. Opportunities will come knocking for him because of his success here. We need this man to lead Trojan Nation for years to come.

No word that he will but there is always the possibility that bigger schools may come calling looking for a good young coach with his kind of leadership and success . Money talks.

I've also heard a couple of the board members are afraid his success will command a bigger contract which they don't want to pay. The man is well worth every penny he makes and more, in my opinion. He told his team Friday night that they have "changed this community" and that is so true. Every week more and more people are jumping on the Trojan Nation bandwagon. These boys are the talk of the town! GO BIG BLUE!!!

As long as we win, at least the first two games are here. Third round site is determined by coin toss IF the two schools are the same seed per GHSA. Semi-final site is pre-determined by GHSA. Lamar's side of the bracket is pre-determined to host. Championship game will be held December 9 at 4:30 pm at the Georgia Dome. Conceivably, Trojan Field could host four playoff games as long as we win.
