This is Gary Long, a former Lamar County sergeant, and I’m still working with our military in Afghanistan. My partner is Sgt. First Class Jeffrey Hackett with the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division, 3-71 CAV out of Fort Drum, N.Y.

Thank you for providing his contact information. I am just starting my holiday card list since we lost the old one in April and I put SSFC Hackett on the top of my list.

I would like to send a care package. What kind of stuff would he like? Can you please give me sone ideas. Thank you. Also he is in my prayers abd his family is also.

Thank you for the information. The members of the Lamar County 4-H Club will cards and letters mailed to Sgt. Hackett by the end of the month. May his recovery be swift. My prayers go out to all who are in harms way.

Melissa and others: He has a slight change in address. SFC Jeffrey Hackett, Warrior Transition Battalion, Box#30096, 8901 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda MD, 20889-5600. He is very humble and says the only thing he can think of for a care package is something childrens books for an 8 year old girl. He said anything you can think of to send will be fine. He is very appreciative of everyone's gestures. His family is now living there with him. As I learn more I will keep you posted. God Bless!
