Then Lamar County Sheriff Joe Buice and investigator Steve Burge were undoubtedly disturbed – and rightfully so – when this data was presented to the GBI and prosecutors at a meeting in December 2005 and it failed to lead to an indictment.
It’s at this point when an outside investigator – such as me – has to ask why. It’s a legal fact circumstantial evidence makes up the majority of the evidence presented at trial, so why didn’t District Attorney Richard Milam step up to the plate?

Walter...were you in the meeting that this evidence was presented at or are you getting second hand information from someone who never thinks they are wrong? Just curious!
I do wish Milam would go ahead and try the case for the families sake...not Joes.
Only two reasons that I see:
1. Bought-Off.
2. Guilty.
That sickening smirk you had on your face. You are too transparent, buddy. And your ridiculous speech. Pitiful!
But I give you credit for showing up....Milam did not even do that much.
Yeah, right!
He may want it to go on a long trail, as you said. No way will he let it go to trial. He knows himself that a death penalty would not even be considered at this point. He is just determined not to betray the packers of his "pocketbook."
By the way, who are the good ole boys. Im starting to get scared of them like you are. They must be such horrible, horrible people. I need to know please...so that I can run when I see them. Do they hang out in groups? How can I stop them from controlling my life? Oh my Goodness, Im gonna go and make sure my doors are locked. Im gonna call Sheriff Waller and tell him to watch the money at the jail so that it doesnt go missing AGAIN. I just know a good ole boy stole that money. How did he infiltrate the past sheriffs department? How oh how did they prevent JB from getting re-elected?Oh my goodness, I just thought of something else....when the good ole boys die, do their children take their place as good ole boys? If so they are gonna be around forever....what shall we ever do?
no,maybe i'm just tired, yea thats it,i'm just tired.they wont ever find anything.nobody knows anything.if they did they would have said something before now.
are you sure?
And He/They are reading this.
BUT murderers will eventually pay, you know.
Donna Johnson's Last Hours
Imagine, if you can stomach it, the final torturous hours of Donna Ogletree Johnson.
Those hours of brutality were much longer than we were all originally led to believe.
Donna was dead as early as 5 a.m. on the day her body was found and she was brutalized for many hours prior to the time her killer or killers delivered three blows to her head with a roofing hatchet.
“When they finally killed her, they put her out of her misery,” former Lamar County sheriff Joe Buice says.
At some point, Donna was assaulted. She fought hard for her freedom, clawing at her attackers, but was overpowered and hogtied by an expert.
She was gagged with her bra and panties and beaten unmercifully.
She was experiencing her menstrual period and thus unworthy of rape. So, her sadistic captors sexually violated her repeatedly with a metal rod or similar object. No doubt Donna knew she was done for if she could not break free.
Against all odds, she clung to life, enduring mindless torture that would have killed most.
No doubt she thought of her husband, Jimmy Johnson, her parents, Ed and Beulah, and her sister, Becky.
She hoped against hope that someone would save her. Her someone never came.
Still, she refused to die, even when run over with a vehicle.
When the blows from the hatchet finally caved in her skull and snuffed out her life, Donna left behind memories and mysteries.
Who killed her?
Donna took the answers with her.
Now only her killers know who they are.
Certainly, they enjoyed – took great pleasure from – their work. This was not the result of a domestic disturbance. This was a thrill killing.
I wonder if they suffer pangs of remorse.
I wonder if they had killed before.
I wonder if they have killed since.
I wonder if they are capable of killing now.
I wonder if they are feeling the heat.
I wonder if those charged with investigating her death are working as hard as they could be on the case.
As opined in this space before, this case has not been solved because someone in a position of power does not want it solved.
If we find that person, we find the killers.
What do you know that you have not yet revealed?
Any tiny fragment of information you possess may hold the key to the mystery. Make the call!
Once upon a time a mighty rain began falling. One of God's best Christian followers noticed the water had reached the level of his front porch, his steps already underwater. A small rescue boat drifted by and asked the man to get on board for his safety.
The man replied, "No thanks, my life is in God's hands. He will save me."
The rain continued to fall. It rained so much that the man was forced to climb atop his house to avoid drowning. Another, bigger boat came to offer the gentleman their life-saving services. He again refused, making it clear that God would be his rock in the storm.
Eventually, the man was forced to climb the tallest tree he could find to avoid the deep flood waters. A helicopter flew overhead and told the man to grab the rope so he could be pulled to safety. He again denied the request, stating that God would save him.
When the man opened his eyes, he saw God. He asked, "God, why did you forsake me?"
God replied, "I didn't. I sent you two boats and a helicopter."
And so.....it appears that God has some help here on earth doesn't it?
My sister told me once, "this Donna story just will not die." She is right.
God's boats and helicopters never quit.
Don't rock God's boat. Help row.
WHAT OH WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET HIS NAME IN THE PAPER..WHAT OH WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR HIM....BLAH BLAH BLAH!
I wish it werent so obvious. Maybe Sheriff Waller can get behind this case and push the DA into taking it to trial. If there is enough evidence, then Mr. Waller would be a fool if he didnt try to get the case into court....right? My oh my what publicity he would get.
But, from what I have read.......that after life Judge has a real strict court and some sentences that last forever. No jury needed...he has all the facts.
And just think, he/they will get to see it all over again as their worthless life flashes before them.
FOREVER is a really long time, isn't it?
Impossible, actually.
