One person died and another was seriously injured in a crash at the intersection of Hwy. 36 and Country Kitchen Rd. Friday.

UPDATE: Coroner Jim Smith has identified the dead man as David Clemons. Clemons, 73, lived on Steele Road in Milner. The driver of the other car was J. Wesley Smith, 29, who suffered multiple injuries but was released from Upson Regional Medical Center early Saturday morning.

This is so dreadful for the families of these people.

I have been told he works for Dixon Cab. Sorry to say this but all dixons drivers are wild behind the wheel. I hate that one got killed but maybe it will slow the other ones down. I like to have got killed by one twice in town this month.

How dare you! I do not care what your thoughts are on someone, keep comments like that to yourself at this time. I do not know the victim nor his family but I do know I was raised to have respect during times like this. Oh and by the way everyone, don't start with that freedom of speech crap this is not about that. It is about learning to not make rude innapproiate comments during a time as a person losing thier life.

Now, to the family: I am so sorry for your loss.

The Dixion's sure are bad drivers,and they were always getting away without paying for what they did(1994)tear up people cars and get away scott free.

First of all Mr. Clemons has not driven for Dixon Cab company in years. Furthermore even if he was what does that have to do with the fact that he lost his life in a tragic accident. Mr. Clemons was a great man, loving husband and a great father who will be missed by many.

From what I understand Clemons was traveling into town on 36 when the other car pulled in front of him to turn onto Country Kitchen Rd... The sun is terrible that time of evening going toward Thomaston you can't see a thing.. My heart goes out to both families.. Such a tragedy..

yes he was . he will greatly missed!God loving man! retired several years back from Southern states in hampton. prior to his wife passing he saw to it EVERY day that he cooked her dinner and took it to the nursing home.that is real love.we can all only hope to be as he was.

I wonder if the Clemons vehicle had his head lights on ? I see so many people driving as the sun goes down without any lights on at all. Remember, the lights are not to see but to be SEEN !!

It was very sad. I was near the accident, the sun was not down. His car was a bit older, so it did not have the daytime running lights. To my understanding and from what I could ascertain, it had no airbags because none had deployed. Don't know if they would have saved his life. If you drive in the area, you can see that he never saw the accident coming. There are no skid marks, for the exception of a smaller on when the cars apparently crashed. God bless the family, and I hope we all learn to have more patience behind the wheels. Not that it would have made any difference, but if we could slow down just long enough to look and make sure cars are not in the path, we can help stop injuries or worse.
