Lawrence Austin was stopped just short of the goal line on a mandatory two-point PAT attempt in the fourth overtime and the Lamar County Trojans dropped a heartbreaking 35-33 decision to the Appling County Pirates at Trojan Field.

After the game, head coach Jason Strickland told his team he had never been prouder of them. "Nothing I can say will make this feel any better," he said. Then, pointing to the standing room only crowd, he added, "You changed that forever. I love you!"

watched the best football game ever lastnight. The Trojans played with heart and spirit. I am soooo proud of them. To all of the football players I want you to know that you are a special team and you guys did not let anyone down lastnight. You gained alot of experience with tough teams and you guys are just as good as the so called " better teams ". Hold your heads high and be proud of what you accomplished this season, We will be back and everyone better watch out because we will go further next year! I was so numb after lastnights game and shed a few tears this morning because I did not want it to be over, But you guys are the best! Lamar County loves you all!!

Teresa, You said it exactly right! What an awesome season....nothing like spending your Friday nights at a high school football game! I only missed two games this season and I don't have a child in school anymore!

Last night's Lamar Co. game was cetainly one of the greatest high school games I have ever seen. 4 OT's and it came down to a missed two point conversion. Congrats to Coach Jason Strickland and the Trojan Nation on a splendid season.

as anAppling fan, that was truly the best game i have ever withnessed! Lamar came out to make a statment and did with their 1st drive of the game. Lamar has the fastest offense I've seen in a long time-maybe ever! You'r staff at the game were very friendly and the fans at the game were great, also the people we meet giving us directions to the statium were very nice. Your statium that you have shows what you all really think of this team! AWESOME set-up! May God bless you all next season!! You should be unstoppable!

I thought Scans field goal was good too. Did anybody else notice the near side ref (whose goal post it went over)raise his hands to chest high as to start to call it good as he looked to the official under the other post (who could NOT make the call from his side)and as he looked to the other official stopped his hands at the chest and waved "no good". Not saying it was intentional but just looked like a VERY indecisive moment for the official who started a "good" call and changed mid stream. Looked like he didn't know what to call and made a last split second decision to wave it off. I think it was that close and probably was right over the post and good!! Game over 10-7.

Yes I did notice it and so did the fans around me, that was the best high school football game I had ever seen but it was also the worst officiated game the refs made a few bad calls and overlooked a few more, but our boys are the best it's hard to beat a team and the refs. Great Job Trojans 4 OT's proved that you are the best!!!

Great game Lamar folks. You made it 1 round deeper than I thought you would. Don't feel too bad because Appling loses next week to Calhoun. Y'all are going to dominate the new AA starting next year.

I think it would be nice if the community would do something to thank all the Trojan players and coaches for such a wonderful year. They have changed this community so much with the excitement and pride we have for each and every one of them. Football will never be the same in Lamar County thanks to this team.

Yes I agree the banquet this year should be an community effort, the Fine Art Center is great but we need to be somewhere that we can serve food and drinks to celebrate this wonderful season that they accomplished.

Our son Jansen Honeycutt #58 expressed what all of the other players were feeling. We are so proud of Jansen and the entire Trojan team and support staff. We have never seen a more exciting game and been as proud of our community for their support as we have been this year...We are LAMAR!

I would like to tell yall that this was one of the best games we had all year long,and one of the finest facilities we have seen all year. We are blessed to be moving forward in AA rat race we felt we where the under dawgs also in this game. Your right lamar county fans, its all about these young men and supporting them they deserve any and everything you do for them.Thats why we support our guys and travel to see them play!Thank you so much for hospitality and for one of the best games ever(just like ajc said this was a CLASSIC!).
