One hopes so, but even in this day and age, believe it or not, quotas are being applied in order to be given grants=fund$$$, someone in the department worried about getting written up for not meeting the quota & risking possible demotion/loss of job, may go out and say that someone is breaking the law/they are in trouble (especially when an officer profiles or uses racism against someone/ever read the names&ages on these boards), when in reality that someone probably didn't do anything to break the law. If the officer doesn't meet quota, the department doesn't get $$$, and he/she/they get demoted/lose their job, then, who is he/she/they going to go to? An attorney that works for the department/county? LOL By the time the former officer gets a State/Federal attorney or somebody to look into it, many cases created with issues of wrongful arrests and police malpractice have already been filed.
Either the department doesn't get $$$ or department makes enough citations/arrests "happen," to get the $$$.
Then for the person arrested, it is up to a judge or jury MANY days/months later to decide if person arrested is indeed in trouble. The person arrested must wait a long time & go through a process & spend their own $$$ for attorney, risk losing their jobs, background record at risk, etc. (if they don't have their own $$$ to bond out, then the county/state pays for food and shelter and of course we want to make sure that all inmates have their HEALTH taken care of for them [including those with dialysis needs, HIV, cancer, surgical needs, etc.] everyday they are kept in jail, as well as public defenders, & court fees with OUR tax $$$. Where would you go if you didn't have family or insurance to pay for medical bills?but thats another story) & they still wait longer to prove their innocence + to be told if they are in trouble or not. Meanwhile, the officers/department going out doing the arresting don't care & are never in any trouble because he/she/they meet the quotas and keeps the $$$ coming in to pay their checks. By any means necessary they will try to meet those quotas so they can pay their bills for those new cars, new employees, new dogs, so on and so forth. They also keep the $$$ coming in for the lawyers and attorneys in the area so its a win win for all.
THAT IS WRONG!!
I'd been damned if that doesn't make law abiding citizens have to worry.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE BACON!!
I question who the real crooks are. If there were indeed that many people breaking the law as there were in weeks/months past, then it is safe to say that people are breaking the law just as much, if not more, now, as they were then. Why are there not as many arrests now? Do you really expect me to believe that the streets are safer now? LOL I find it easier to believe that perhaps that pressure of reaching a quota is off of the department/people doing the arresting…for now…but trust me, as soon as quota time comes rolling around you'll see that this board gets filled up with all sorts of funny names.
by the way you forgot the ? at the end your question…Simple isn't it?
