Three men charged with the Dec. 5, 2010 home invasion murder of a Gordon College student have been offered plea deals and have until Jan. 5 to decide whether to accept them. Meanwhile, court clerk Frank Abbott is preparing to call 225 traverse jurors to try them should they decide to face juries of their peers.

plea deal is as follows:

plead quilty to involuntary manslauter cause we all know you didnt mean for the gun to go off and I as the DA will only see that you serve 5 years.
OR
you plead guilty to murder but you have a serious mental issue and I as the DA will see to it that you go to the state mental institute for 3 years and you will get all the newest drugs that you can handle and you will be home in 3 years to start your business up again

Since our DA is incompetent maybe a plea deal might be the best of two (or three in this case) evils. I stand amazed whenever I am on jury duty to see the waste of taxpayer money.

This comes as absolutely no surprise when the DA in your county is Richard Milam. That is all that he knows how to do. Do he ever take a criminal to trial? Whose side is he own?????

I heard the deal was to real long sentences, similar to the one the scuzball got in the murder trial that Milam tried two weeks ago. That scuzz got life sentences.

It's called a lazy eye, something that can not be helped. I find it very difficult to believe that someone old enough to type, doesn't know what a lazy eye is. So either someone is extremely stupid, or was making a very rude wisecrack about a disability.

Looks kinda cross eyed to me. Don't really look lazy. I thought lazy eye was when your eye lid was half opened or something. I guess I learn something new every day then.

According to the story in The Herald-Gazette, the plea deal is one looooonnnnnnggggg prison sentence.
I guess the alternative is Death Row, if they go with a trial?
Either way, these young fellows don't need to brush up their resumes. They won't be needing to job-hunt.
By the way, if our DA is not pleasing to you, make sure you get out and vote next time he's up for re-election.

This crime does not fit the criteria for a death penalty case.

It would be a great idea for you all to get a newspaper and read the plea deals. It is ridiculus unless the newspaper made an error. I don't understand how something so clear and cut as a pre-meditated murder could get them a plea deal they could not afford to overlook. It is ridiculous how the DA is just basically allowing these criminals to get a nice vacation in prison for a few years and then basically rejoin their families in a few years.

Then one statement in the paper is about Adronna Pate knowing about the plot. Is anyone seeking charges against her? Of course, she's a charge of her own! Let me hush.

Bottom line is, any intelligent person can look at the plea deals and see that they are going to accept them. How could they not? It helps their lawyers who don't have to worry about preparing anymore for the cases. The deal for Lekevius has him supposedly pleading guilty to just "armed robbery"????? What the HE**!!! How can the DA possibly come up with such a bogus piece of crock.

These plea deals are a total disgrace to the deceased's family. They have lost a son, brother, a piece of their own flesh and blood forever, and these boys have the opportunity to pick their own destinies. The deceased didn't have that luxury, it appears. They burst in and it was over after a bit of suffering. What have the killers suffered? Maybe they don't get any McDonalds, Big Chic, Dairy Queen, GA South BBQ or beer from the Citgo; but they get free meals, a bed, air, tv, and heat. And guess whose paying for it man?? Well, I guess overall everything is what it is here on earth. God has the last decision of all; the plea is his deal!

Im not one to just comment on these articles but I felt the need to with this one. We can all sit on here and defend these boys for what they did or didnt do. The only people who know what happen that night are the 3 boys in custody now, the victim and God. And the only people who have to answer for this are the 3 suspects. I really hate that Barnesville.Com has this comment section because we have so many people who hide behind the name "Anonymous"!!! I pray for all the families involved and for those on here trying to bash these men who they dont know.

you think you are better than anonymous. Watch this. My name is Mr. T Jones. See, you still dont know. Whats the difference. Anyway, It doesnt matter if only 4 people and God only know what really is going on. You take the evidence, take the statements, take your brain and make a judgement of on weather or not these guys intentionally killed the man. Then determine which one pulled the trigger, then determine if one is more involved than the others, etc. If you dont want to do the time, dont commit the crime. In other coutries they would have already be hanged or put in front of the firing line. Atleast in this great country you can prove your innocence.
