"Big MO" -- a nine-foot-diameter custom bass drum for the University of Missouri marching band -- is being built right here in Barnesville by Dr. Neil Boumpani of Gordon College.
Neil Boumpani, Gordon College instrumental music teacher and a drum maker, is constructing the record largest bass drum in a college marching band for the University of Missouri. The nine-foot-diameter drum, 54 inches deep, will make its football field debut at the October 2012 homecoming game for the Mizzou Tigers. Above, Boumpani gives a soft indication of the drum’s terrific sound -- even that can shake the eardrums.
