Former Lamar County commission chairman Kent Kingsley announced tonight he will run for the 3rd District seat in the United States Congress as a Republican. He will square off with incumbent Rep. Lynn Westmoreland.

I think it's great Kent is running. He will represent us well. Now we need to pull together as a community and work to get him elected.

I am very happy with Lynn Westmoreland and his voting record. If it doesn't need fixing, leave it alone.

Moving up to the big leagues now. Good luck. Having a US Congressman from Barnesville will probably be the closest thing to winning the lottery that Lamar County will ever experience.

Voting for someone just because they are in your town or county is no different than someone voting because of the color of their skin. Westmore is very conservative and has a great track record of voting conservative. He also is one of the few congressman that signed the "Contract with America." Billy Maddox is the one that needs to be replaced.
