I hope this arrest gets more publicity to help deter thieves from stealing. I hope the public realizes that a standard residential air conditioner only brings approximately $40 as scrap metal; however, the homeowner either has to file a claim on their insurance and pay their deductible (generally $500 or more)or pay for the unit in full (an average $2000) if there is no coverage for theft. Also, the theft of copper wiring and plumbing pipes can cost the homeowner several thousand dollars to have an electrician and plumber repair and replace the damage. Farm Bureau Insurance has joined with Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Utilities, Recyclers, and others to create a compliance guide for prosecution of these criminals. This publication can be found on the Ga Farm Bureau website gfb.org. I hope more individuals become aware of the theft in their community and the cost of the damage if it is not stopped.

When will the businesses that by the copper and other scrap metal be held accountable? Do they make people show their id and fill out paperwork of some kind, or do they just weigh and pay? They need to be regulated somehow.

They are experts in theft but they lose in the smarts department. They only caused $500 in damage it is obvious they cared about the property to some degree. Most crooks trash a place. Anyway, lets pray for these two.

Are you that dumb? Pray for them? Why don't you shut that pie hole Sheila. Dang, you spew on every post as if you were knowledgeable on all subjects and you aren't.

Sheila has as much right to "spew on every post" just as you do, but Sheila is much more intelligent and more polite than you are. You need a new moniker here since you do not have the humility that the original John the Baptist had.
