Yeah, because Lamar County is flush with new industry, a healthy tax base, and a bright future for citizens seeking employment in the immediate area.

Errr, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
In this case the "duly elected representatives" are seeking to benefit the ENTIRE county instead of a tiny minority that are opposed.
This place needs jobs and growth badly. The interstate is an excellent location for industrial facilities. But it seems no matter where someone wants to locate here, there is opposition. Remember, this is the place that opposed a cell phone tower in the abandoned Carters site because "it would change the character of the neighborhood"!
Meanwhile, surrounding cities and counties are progressing with new industrial concerns locating there. Griffin, Thomaston, and McDonough have been very successful at this. Barnesville and Lamar county not at all.
