Spell check only works for misspelling words, not for you being a lazy hack who doesn't proof read his "work".

Congratulations to all the winners. Having said that, if you are getting paid and its your sole job to be active in the community then you shouldn't be nominated for these awards. There are lots of people in this community who take time out of there busy schedule to make this community better without getting paid for it. Now having said that, its up to us as a community to nominated these deserving people. Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.

I could not agree more. I'm sure these ladies work hard, but this make these awards look like a joke.

Can I say that because you are paid to work in Lamar county does not exempt you from citizen of the year. What they have done for this county/city for months after the tornado, is NOT in their job description. You have ZERO idea what they have done in order to help people get back in their homes and on their feet. In all honesty, I did not see anyone else taking on those responsabilites, nor was there a line offer to help in the ways that they have. Great job you two.... You deserve it!

You're right, I don't know what all they did in the tornado relief effort. I commend them for helping out the tornado victums. My point was that its there job to be active in the community and they get paid $ to help and support our community. I was also talking people who work for the school system as well.

I am not with the Chamber or the IDA, but I did ride by the Chamber on week nights, Saturdays and Sundays when these ladies were taking THEIR time away from their families to help our community. Their jobs are to promote business and our town. NOT help victims when they need it. They chose to step up and help and I am so grateful. They spent their time recruiting help, money, goods, materials, and directing teams of workers. I am positive that if you were one of the families who was positively touched by these acts, they would not have one problem with these awards. Missy and Amanda do not choose who wins. Knowing these women, they would never in a million years even suggest it. But they sure do deserve it!!

I believe any citizen can nominate folks for these awards. If you've not nominated anyone then you shouldn't be complaining!!!

I would have liked to have been in the room when they were counting the votes. The congratulatory hugs must have been fantastic! One for me...one for you.

Missy and Amanda have never chosen the awards. There is a board.. you should look into the nominating and voting committee.. i'm sure they would love more help from such caring citizens such as yourself!

WOW... Now we have gone to knocking down people who care about the community? there are numerous people who could have received this award, and were bitter because these two help people get back in their homes after a tornado? Wow, I would hate to have been your kids living by your "We can not do enough great things to help others" standards!! Why not give credit instead of bashing because your person did not win?
