The primary job of the schools isn't having meetings behind a fancy facade or playing football in a 5 million dollar stadium. It is education. I'd be more impressed if they all spent a little time on education instead of eye candy. What is with these people?
I agree with you 100%. Lamar County schools are not providing the children of Lamar County the education assistance in order to be competitive in a global market. The monies could have been spent on providing children with laptops, making the schools technology efficient, and bringing in more foreign languages programs.
There is a movie currently being filmed in Middle Georgia, and is being patterned about an old town out in the Midwest in Kansas. The title of the movie is 'The Crazies', and the story goes that the water system is this town got contaminated and all of the folks in the town went crazy.
Something must be in the water in Lamar Co. 3-out of the 4-posts on the new facilities are negative responses.
What is it that's in the water here that makes people, so negative, about progress being made...? Gee-Whiz... How about exhibiting a winning attitude every once in a while...
Go back in your cave, a place where that you will feel more at home in the dark shadows. It's called the 21st century, and progress, simpleton. Perception is reality, and it starts with facilities. Choice: Stay in the dark ages, or move forward? The leadership for the Lamar Co. Schools has chosen to move forward, and they should be commended for it. Pride in the Physical Plant is a major part of the educational process. Try developing a PMA -- Positive Mental Attitude!
I think the earlier grades have really good teachers that have been there for a long time but it just goes down hill the higher up in grades they get. Just my opinion but then again if the children would apply themselves they could learn reguardless.
I would say county to county on scores isnt necessarily the teachers who are at fault its the type of ppl that live in each county.
You people are so arrogant, every time you need another play pretty you just raise the millage rate. I don't know about you, but most people I know don't have a magic money tree to pull money off of every time you need one. How about a little fiscal responsibility.
A new high school / middle school is sorely needed here in Lamar Co.... Lamar Co. has a lot of catching-up to do, to be on the same plane with schools in the immediate surrounding areas.
Two of the most important things that are considered by people that are looking to relocate to a community are quality school facilities -- both from a Physical Plant and Educational Opportunity Perspective -- and available housing... Quality Recreational & Entertainment Opportunities, also, are a major factor in these decisions. Shopping is available in nearby Griffin & Macon. The overflow from the Metro Atlanta counties -- of which Lamar Co. is on the cusp -- is filtering southward... Monroe Co., Spalding Co., & even Pike Co. are all benefiting from the migration south. A larger county populace means a broader tax base for general revenue collections. Subtraction by addition transpires, when the tax levies are divided by more people.
Hopefully, those in the leadership positions will not allow the 'negatrons' to change the course of action that is being taken to upgrade facilities in general, that are long overdue. If you ain't movin'-forward, then you're movin'-backwards, and that ain't just fodder for a message board.
