Lamar man critically injured in Spalding motorcycle crash

A Lamar County man was lifeflighted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta Sunday night after wrecking his motorcycle on Maddox Road in Spalding County, according to reports.

The victim, identified as Jeffery Turner, spent all day Monday in surgery and intitial reports are he suffered a broken neck and internal injuries.

Motorcycles are dangerous no matter if you have been drinking or not. No matter how much of an experienced rider you are, that is an extreme risk you take each time you get on one.
I think certain atvs should be allowed to ride the streets. Atleast they have 4 wheels.
Sad sad situation when something like this happens to ppl. Other drivers are really more of an endangerment to the motorcycles rather than the cycle being dangerous itself.

The bystanders here in this area are very helpful when situations like this occur, they do so much to assist.
Thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Turner.

One person came to the scene reported he knew Turner and speculated alcohol was involved.....speculation doesn't make it so. How about reporting facts!

If I may be so bold to say we ARE reporting the facts. The fact is that

"One person who came to the scene reported he knew Turner and speculated alcohol was involved, according to WKEU radio in Griffin."

We aren't speculating on the cause of the accident. We are reporting that according to WKEU radio in Griffin a person on the scene speculated alcohol was involved.

So, thank you for pointing this out to us but we were just reporting the facts.

Drew, I beg to differ with you on your insistence that you are only reporting the facts. What you are doing is perpetuating rumor and speculation by even mentioning an unsubstantiated cause for this accident which was speculated on by a bystander and reported on a radio station. You should be ashamed. In addition, rather than reporting what the initial report was in regards to his injuries, you should just say the exact nature of his injuries is not known. Mr. Turner's neck was not broken.

I was not the original author of this article and was not on scene to see or hear anything about the incident. My comment earlier was based only on what the article said and what the accusation by 'Anonymous' was.

I am not ashamed as I pointed out that we were reporting to readers what was initiated on radio and to us by the EMS and bystanders on the scene.

There was never a follow up administered by EMS or by the accident victim's family in which we could write up all the details and extent of injuries. Had there been, we would have reported that as well.

just so you all know anybody who knows the turner's should know that alcohol has allways been involved with this family i have a grandchild and jeff happens to be the father so i know there was alcohol involved not a fact is in his medical records

To me that was a cheap shot and further more, Jeff Turner I consider one of my dear friends whom I hold very dearly in my heart. That family has endured there share and then some in tragic accidents. I hope things turn out good for this family my thoughts and prayers r with u

I tried to call him last night, just to make sure it was the JT I know. Didn't get an answer. I hope I am wrong! if not... hang in there Jeff.

He's going to be in Grady for at least a month.
Theres brain damage and he's in a drug induced coma to get the brain swelling to go down. He had brain surgery Sunday night. They also had to remove his spleen due to too much damage. Please keep him in your prayers. We want him to come home soon and safe.

My thoughts and prayers go to JT and Kim and Mrs.Turner this family has been through enough I have faith Jt will pull out of this he is a fighter. Also remember him on 3/26 this is his B-day I will going to see him on this day. Keep strong all that care for him.

Jeff is pulling along at a wonderfully fast pace. I went to see him yesterday and he looks good and will be home in no time. Thanks for all of the prayers, they are working!

Thanks for all the comments people are posting here, i have been so worried about my old friend Jeff, but being so far away in Philadelphia, this is the only way i have of keeping up with how he's doing. So if anyone has anything new to report please post away!
