Lamar's unemployment is 9.9%

Lamar County’s unemployment barely remained below double digits for the second month in a row, up to 9.9% in May from 9.6% in March. Local unemployment was 11.4% in May 2011 and it had been in double digits since 2009.

I think the college students are getting the jobs we could possible get to help pay our property taxes or from buying local.

Possibly, but it doesn't seem to me I ever see that many Gordon students working around town. I think the job market just sucks right now.

But, don't worry: the private sector is doing fine.
