Amen. Want more traffic, more crowds, more crowded schools, more out-of-town business interests? Move somewhere like McDonough, where the town is prospering, and quality of life is low. Why do some people want EVERY town to look the same?
I moved to Barnesville for the small town. I grew up in a large City. I love that my Grandchildren can grow up and know life long friends that they have went to school with and played sports with. If you want a large city with more crime, then go to a large city and leave Barnesville alone.
But, can't we have a Target or small little Walmart here? And an Applebee's or Red Lobster? It could be on the road to Griffin so you wouldn't be bothered by the extra traffic. That would create jobs and tax money if it was in Lamar county. That lot with the house that is slowly rotting down would be the perfect spot for a discount store.
It is hard to drive all the way to Griffin or Thomaston when I need something from a larger store. But, it's your town and your feelings are what they are. Keep it small.

Ok, I agree with Target. And we need a clothing store.
Olive Garden for the restaurant.
