Well, the best way to see if you are infected already is to visit Microsoft.com or McAfee.com. If you are blocked from those sites then chances are....it is too late. But since Malware notes that it effects Microsoft systems and I run all Macs, I am not worried at all.
Here is the interesting question though. Anyone actually know what this worm is supposed to do when it does attack? Hmmmmmmmmmmm......
It has been reported on the news that this worm hijacks the processing unit of your computer and links with others creating a "botnet". It uses the combined processing power to hack into secure systems more easily to retrieve personal info. They showed it working on an unprotected laptop last night on ABC News with Charlie Gibson. I haven't looked into it farther though as of yet.
it was set to be released on April 1st...ring any bells? it was possibly the biggest April fools joke ever..and the beauty of it is that people bought it :) i think its funny. the last thing i heard about conficker was that it wasn't released as planned and the no one could be contacted for the full story as to what happened. if you've heard something past that..do tell.
